CoJ incorrect purchase

That 3 month expiry is nonsense.

The legal requirement is 2 years as I recall.
If you check on the CoJ website it is 3 months, I have only 3 weeks left to try & sort this out hence me asking here if anyone knows how to help as my consultant says she has done everything she can.

Interesting post situation to read, as this can happen easily.

Only question though, why such a big amount for an once off electricity purchase, that your usual consumption +-?
WE are being overcharged. I, have logged a query but was told to just pay whilst they investigate or power will be cut off. Then in my rush to pay I made this daft mistake.

I have a question about this that worries me:
I assume the OP bought the token, and the token was sent to him, for the incorrect meter.
How is the other meter owner going to know there's a token generated for his meter?

The tokens are specific to a meter, and encrypted.

On BLU's system it was definitely possible to revoke a token, as long as it wasn't used. The OP no doubt tried to enter the token and the meter told him NOPE.
If this is possible, do you know how I can get it revoked? I have not given the number to anyone & have nor tried to enter it anywhere

Yes, I think they are with CoJ. The estate agent put me onto them.
Doesn't JHB have any online platforms for buying prepaid tokens? The platform I use in the Cape actually shows the property address linked to the meter number when you purchase a token.

I don’t know how it’s even relevant.

If anything after 3 months it’s automatically resolved because you can’t use it any more.

Doesn't power only cut on prepaid when the credit on the meter reaches zero? Who's "they"? Overcharged, how many units is R8.5k?

Even if you do find the owner of the meter number, how are you going to convince them to pay you R 8 500 to get the token you bought..?

Your best bet is finding the right people at CoJ to talk to, to see if the token can be invalidated and they can refund you.. I was in a similar situation and this is something that CoCT can do, but there is a cost associated with it, so I would not expect to get a full refund if CoJ can do this..
It is impossible to invalidate a voucher number

Hence why they are noy willing to refund
