How to switch from ADSL2_PLUS to VDSL

This might be a stupid question, but if you were on ADSL and upgraded to VDSL, does Telkom need access to your house again? I was told that they will only need to do work at the exchange... Bought a Huawei HG659 router, but setting up the ADSL or VDSL profile doesn't work, even though it syncs, guessing still on ADSL @15mbps.

Im so close to the exchange, but because im on old infrastructure, im on 20mbps adsl. Would love to get VDSL though.

Now two days later, see ASSIA bumped my sync speed to 22527 kbps.

VDSL 2

SNR Margin 19.2 dB 28.5 dB
Line Attenuation 14.9 dB 2.5 dB

MAX Rate 85648 kbps 11061 kbps
POWER 13.1 dbm -8.0 dbm
INP 2.0 symbols 2.5 symbols

You have a good line but telkom/ASSIA still put it on Interleaved mode...freaking stupid if you ask me.

lucky I am also, but can only get 5 megs for some reason and they won't bump it up.

Great! Telkom finally changed my profile to VDSL.

FYI your line can only sync in one mode, VDSL or ADSL. So if your line syncs at ADSL mode you need to contact Telkom to make the change.
Have you noticed any real benefits to being on VDSL? My area and router supports it, but I'm still on ADSL. Who/how did you contact to make the change?

Well I would suggest you change. VDSL was much stabler for me and faster. 22.5Mbps sync speed and 19.60Mbps actually download speed vs 20.4Mbps sync speed and 16.5Mbps actual download speed on ADSL2+

There there is the 2Mbps upload vs the 1Mbps upload on ADSL2+

VDSL has less overheads so speeds are faster. Very worth it if you ask me. 3.1Mbps faster actual download speed.
