How to: Telkom Mega100wr2 - half-bridge

Create Bridge Connection (Second bridge type connection)

9. WAN --> New Connection
10. Give the connection a name. Since it is the local one I called mine local. This is ppp1.
11. VPI and VCI as 0 and 0 respectively <---------- this is where everybody goes wrong.
12. Set Type as bridge.
Everything else you can leave.
12. Apply. Save Settings.

This exactly what I've tried for the bridge connection and I get the error:
"Check PVC Errors". It seems like you cannot save this setting with VPI and VCI set to 0 in bridge mode. How did you get this done?
Thanx!

I thought i'd follow my instructions to see if i would get the same error. lol, it turns out i did. This ended in me loosing my halfbridge untill i could figure out how i got it to work the first time. Its been awhile :)

An hour later, i found the fix.

Create Bridge Connection (Second bridge type connection)

9. WAN --> New Connection
10. Give the connection a name. Since it is the local one I called mine local.
11. Set Type as bridge.
12. VPI and VCI as 0 and 0 respectively <---------- this is where everybody goes wrong. (To get past the "Check PVC Errors" problem when entering 0 and 0, set vpi to 8 and vci to 35. Click Apply. Since the numbers are the same as quickstarts, the router will revert back to 0 and 0 when you click apply. It will throw out an error, but just ignore it, when you log back into the router the numbers will be 0 and 0, and your half bridge will work fine.)

Everything else you can leave.
12. Apply. Save Settings.

Shot man, ;) BTW Since one can only run Route Sentry correctly by running as administrator, this means I cannot add it to my startup. Or is there another way?

Err, iv got a bit of a problem.
I upgraded my firmware to Firmware Version 99.70.4r and now when I try create that bridge and set the VPI adn VPC to 8 and 35 or even 0 and 0 it gives me that PVC error.

So now what....should I go back to the older firmware version? Which firmware version are you gusy running?

hmm... a question:

i'm using RS in Vista with a local and an int acount.. the int account is connecting through my router/network as suggested. is it somehow possible to disable the int account (ie. the network's Internet connection) while still using my local account?

Route Sentry keeps dropping int connection ...

Any1 here has the same prob? Running Vista x64, RS ver .05 beta 4. :(

I don't know if you guys will be able to help me, but here goes:

I swopped out my older Microcom router for a new Microcom ADSL 2+ Wifi one at incredible deception since it was still under warranty and my older one had the nasty habbit of disconnecting my international connection at random times, forcing me to restart my pc and powering down my router. I got the new one 2 days ago, but since then I have been struggling my butt off to get the half-bridging going again with Vista.

As my luck would have it, the new router's interface is different than the old one and it looks exactly like the Telkom 100WR/2 routers' interfaces. I followed the steps exactly as you guys stipulated here, but alas, it doesn't work, or maybe there is something that might be different in this router's config than the Telkom one's. The router looks physically the same as the telkom ones, hence the same interfaces. One thing, when I delete the quickstart connection, and try to create a new one called quickstart, then it says that I cannot use quickstart because its reserved for the default connection.

Does it give you guys that error as well, when trying to create a new one ? Furthermore, shouldn't the sharing option be enabled ? A few nights ago, I had my bridge and international one sharing the same PVC settings (8:35) but still that didnt work. Can any1 perhaps have a look at my settings if I upload some screenshots of my router's interface ? It really sucks not being able to half-bridge and disconnecting and reconnecting accounts ain't my idea of fun.

If I'm not able to get this damm thing doing half-bridge before 31st December, then I'm buying myself a brand new router beginning of next year.I even wanted to go back to WinXP because normal bridging works awesome with it...

Btw the firmware version is the following 66.80.1, what firmware does the telkom one's have ? did any of you updated your firmware to enable half-bridge or did it work out of the box.

What modulation type are u guys using ? I set mine to GDMT mode.

Any help/advice will be appreciated.

Thanx

:)

I'm just going to bump this and ask my question here.

How do I access the administration page of the 100WR2? Now that I have my router managing the PPPoE connection it's WAN port has an external IP address from the ISP and I cannot access the IP address of the 100WR2 on it's ethernet port.

Default is 10.0.0.2 - if that fails check your IP settings on your PC: Start > Run > cmd > ipconfig

Look for the Default Gateway address for your local area connection.
