How Vodacom is reducing voice pricing

I dont see anything either. So when are the prices coming down? Last I remember prices went up for contracts?

Here's a novel way.... make it so expensive that folks cannot afford to make voice calls thereby saving them money on the voice portion of their account!

WhatsApp voice calls FTW

nothing to do with the termination cuts effective 1 October - 0.20 to 0.16?

very strange. For the R219 I pay for my contract, I only get 75mins
250mb data is +-R49, so that leaves R170 for my 75mins and something they call SMS's (no idea what that is, but it was not optional)

thats R2.26 per minute that I have to pay.

Vodacom, here is a novel idea:

1. you charge me your claimed 68c per minute flat rate for the calls I make during a month
2. you charge me a flat rate for the data I use during a month
3. you bill me for it at the end of the month

If all you say is true, you would make the same revenue and I would be a much happier customer.

Win-Win

The lowest prepaid rate is 79c per minute, not 48c as he says.

Clearly he's adjusting his reality with that "effective rate" cr@p again.

Exactly, he's talking *** when last did Vodacom really lower their voice prices?

I'm on 79c btw, none of that bogus skameel rates for me :)

MyBB do some real reporting and ask Shameel to show how exactly he gets 48c on prepaid in 2015..

It's that power hour crap, it's included in those calcs...

And Jannie, I recently discovered a friend was still on Vodacom4U (I think it was, should be more like U4Vodacom at that R2.30 per minute VC to VC rate). Think she ever got a SMS that says" we noticed you are on a old outdated crap plan"? Nope. And she didn't think to look up the available plans, as a single mom with no maintenance, she has enough issues on her plate.

Don't worry, she's now on 79c.

If mr Joosub wants to take on whatsapp, then stop the power hour blah blah rubbish and just lower the prepaid ratr per second. I prefer to call over the network than whatsapp because the quality is better, but right now, I will often call family using whatsapp because we are all on wifi anyways.

Total voice revenue/total minutes. Not difficult to understand, surely.

Completely baffling, to be honest. When I buy prepaid I get Rx, which is divided by 79c and therefore total call minutes = Rx/.79.

How does 48c come into the equation?

Vodacon's Strategy:

Step 1: Increase prices to ridiculous, almost abusive levels
Step 2: Slightly decrease insanely high prices
Step 3: Boast about how you reduced prices

Yeah, give people a bundle of stuff they don't need and don't want after hiking contract prices and then claim the voice part is a true reflection of what people are paying per minute. Wonderful logic there.

Oh you mean Vodacom's revenue per minute? Nothing to do with the cost per minute paid by the consumer, yet that's what Shameel was bragging about lowering.

Not difficult to understand how devious deliberately confusing the two is, surely.

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" ???

So you recon Shameel using their revenue formula as a substitute for consumer cost is a fair comparison?
