How well does your phone hold up?

Had a mishap with your phone? How well did it hold up?
Other than cosmetic damage did it still work ok?

Also not really what this thread is about. He is doing some seriously unscientific tests. There is no control on how hard he is hitting the phones, with either golf club or hammer. I would have like to have seen him do more realistic tests like dropping the phone on it's corner and see if it still works fine. Or the falling out of pocket / bag. Multiple drops. That kind of thing.

Want to see how "normal" mishaps have affected peoples' everyday phones.

People who use rugged phones, like me, as daily drivers are better acquainted with the difference between a built to be rugged phone and a normal phone in a protective case. The latter is more to protect from cosmetic damage more than to protected the functioning of the phone.

When I had my LG it dropped about a meter, lol. Screen cracked and digitizer damaged. Just gave the insurance a call and got a new phone.


But it is all on how it landed.

That AGM landed on the corner which took most of the impact.

Corners are weighted and padded to force it to land in a certain way.
 
I have been through plenty of phones and a lot of drops. Longest lasting has been my old iPhone SE. I’ve replaced about 6 screen protectors on this thing and it’s been going fine in it’s little bumper case.
Falls include off from a car, out of pocket while getting into a ceiling, of tables, tool boxes... almost everything. Has fallen on concrete, tiles, paving, wood, sand, stones and tar. Has taken plenty of abuse and still going strong. Only thing I’ve ever had to replace was the screen protector.

a lot of others did not last as long. Ranging from the Samsung notes and S range. Huawei P range and then some other iPhones as well. This one has been the most rugged phone which was not designed to be rugged.

It’s virtually indestructible.

While I’ve not dropped mine much (ever?) my wife’s phone has gone down the stairs more than once and it falls almost daily for reasons I cannot fathom but it remains perfect.
 
Stopped using covers because I realised I don’t drop phones. Never had one crack ever
 
Repeated dropped my Nokia 6.1 including when I tripped and had to be taken to the emergency room. With exception of concrete the phone tends to damage whatever it falls on. Not water proof but otherwise indestructible.
 
Frikkin Samsung Note 4 giving me no compelling reason to upgrade. Taken many knocks and falls and I stopped a long time ago panicking and checking if it is still alive. It sits in my back pocket and more than once shady young men have come up to me and pointed that it is about to fall off. It ran a while on a battery given by a colleague who had driven over their note 4 which has been subsequently resurrected.

That was my other die hard. It eventually fell out of my pocket into a drum of paint!! I didn’t realise until the paint was used and the guys found it
 
My Tecno Phantom6 has survived countless number of drops but the recent drop happened outside and the damage was done smack in the middle of the power button. Since the phone is sealed, I had to pry the back open using a flat head screw driver and release the stuck power button.
 
Look after phones, so keep them in flip cases,
Hold them properly, and put them down when I'm not using them

All except this new/used s9, but that isnt my damage.
Damn expensive to fix though, cost more then the whole phone!!
