I've ordered a battery from a supplier in Hong Kong through Ebay. Ordered and paid for the battery 3rd May, still waiting but total cost so far R496-00. That's for a battery for HP Pavilion DV9293EA which judging by what you were quoted is probably what you got or close to...On the hpshop.co.za website a replacement battery costs R2000. That sounds absolutely ridiculous to me so does anyone know of a cheaper generic alternative or a cheaper source or something?
Sounds like it's hardware related. Perhaps remove the ineffective battery all together and try run the laptop on AC power and observe stability under these conditions.Another problem I'm having is that sometimes (quite infrequently) the laptop will turn off and the only way to get it started is to turn remove and replace the battery and power cord... Could this be a bug of some sort in Windows 7 RC1 or is it probably hardware related? If it's even possibly because of Windows 7 then I'll probably go back to XP.
That sounds like a very credible alternative to buying new. Could even be what I'm waiting for from Hong Kong, a reconditioned battery...You can repack the Lithium Cells in the battery yourself, or get someone to do it. There are a few services around that'll do it for about R400-600 with a guarantee - and then your battery will be good as new.
Can someone post the email address for laserelectronic.co.za. I can't seem to access that part of their website...
