HP ProLiant MicroServer

I haven't really seen xbmc in action yet. Does it have a browser or browser plugin?

I tried Openelec, but get an error saying it cannot see my hdd and it might need to be partition?

put the drive in a computer.
click start, type "computer management", click it and then go into the drives section - delete all partitions of it and re-format it
(ntfs should be fine, but it will format that drive again when installing openelec)

Picked up my N40L MicroServer today and will be trying Openelec first - will wade through the threads for other good options ;)

so i installed openelec
followed milkmans guide, but now im stuck
cant connect my laptop to microserver
when I type in \\OPENELEC as per the guide - it says "windows cannot find ....."

not sure what else to try?

that's strange....
what happens when you click on "Network" in windows explorer.... anything there?

you could also right-click the network icon and choose "troubleshoot problems" and let windows sort it out, or you could set up a new network in the "network and sharing centre"

it's strange - i connected my HP to my GF's very old Windows XP computer, and it worked instantly

Yeah I get exactly the same thing.

Anyway, flashing the custom BIOS today and moving OS drive to the ODD SATA port and mounting in 5.25" bay.

Plans for next month :)

Add a iCYDOCK MB994SP-4SB mobile rack and a Sunix SATA2600 SATA6G card. Then move my 60GB Corsair Force 3 SSD to the HP when I upgrade to a bigger one on my PC. Will add my old 2.5" drives so some extra storage.
