HP ProLiant MicroServer

I used the thumb drive app that comes with openelec and that pretty much formats and sets up the USB drive for you.(as well as naming the drive openelec). After fiddling a bit earlier it booted into the openelec menu but then it subsequently hung after choosing Either Livecd or install. I'm beginning to think my flash drive is faulty or there is some weird compatibility issue cos I've had no luck with xbmcbuntu either. Googling turns up a few people with this problem and the only answer is that it either magically goes away or they tried another flash drive:confused:

Ok so purchasing a new flash drive solved the "SYSLINUX 4.06 EDD LOAD ERROR - BOOT ERROR". :D

Anyone had any luck with hooking up an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard to an N54l running Openelec 3.0.1?

Going to buy my microserver tomorrow . Does it take a special type of graphic card?

All depends what you are going to use it for.

It has on-board graphics, which is fine for the general purpose stuff, however if you want to use it as a HTPC with HDMI out for HD content and sound, then you will need a card. As Napalm said the GT610 is probably your best bet for this.

Just bought the n54l for R1425 this morning. Pcint.co.za Price apparently went up just now, probably due to the interest after the mybb post.

Now R1,538.00 incl..

I paid a lot more last week from cybernatic:(

Yup. I was over the Microserver and was leaning towards a pi, but at 1400 I grabbed it. Hope everything is legit, will go through Saturday.

So what's the cheapest low profile Nvidia card out there?

So going to pick me up one of these. 2 Questions:

1. Do they ALL come with a LP bracket?
2. Is the fan not a problem? I currently have the HD6550 which is passively cooled.

Looking for the same answers, I would prefer one without a fan (noise).

I saw that Esquire had a fanless one but I am not sure about the bracket:

I see they also have a GT210, wonder if that would fit/play HD content.

The noise is negligible. Some passive cooled cards don't fit in the slot. Space is limited...
