HP ProLiant MicroServer

I'm not at home so can't tell you the dongle model. Next project is an IP camera setup for the house.

My gawd I'm gonna be a super-geek like you lot...:D

Regarding running headphones from the microserver which without a dedicated soundcard, lacks a 3.5mm jack.

Just got my USB soundcard from Dx.com R23. Plug and play on windows. Will see how it works on openelec when I get home.

Quality and volume is as good as the built in sound on my PC. So for me it will be good enough.

Anyone know what settings I need to direct the sound output to the usb soundcard?

You probably need to run aplay -l to list the sound devices, and then use plughw:x,y depending on what output you get. Guessing though.

Ok. I did run aplay -l, and saw that the USB audio device is detected. I also selected audio output to USB Audio in the settings menu, but i get the error "Failed to Initialize Audio Device".

Code:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Generic [HD-Audio Generic], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: Set [USB Headphone Set], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Will try plughw:x,y (not that I know what this means).

Hi guys, yesterday switched my display to my media centre (on tV) (Haven't worked on it for weeks), but looks like my pc is in sleeping mode??? How do you get out of sleeping mode, as my pc is definitely on, and from sabnzbd, I can see that it is definitely downloading. I still using just keyboard, running openelec with XBMC.

I have the same problem. If my machine boots without the TV being on, then I get no display on the HDMI port. Normally I just reboots it, as mine boots in about 30 seconds.

Correct. Xbmc doesn't find a display because the Hdmi driver defines devices based on the Hdmi handshake.

Busy configuring Plex media server on my linux box so I can stream to my new Ipad. All I can say is wow. Full 1080p wi-fi streaming to my iPad, now I just have to upgrade my cpu as my poor old Dual Core Pentium 2.8GHz is taking some strain. Best $5 ever spent.

Hi guys does anyone know if openelec 1.02 auto updates to the betas? mine has not updated at all.

Nope, it will only update to the next full version (2) when that is released.

I don't think so.
I manually updated to beta 2. It then downloaded beta 3 itself.

thanks guys I thought so but just wanted to be sure mine just crashes with the beta 3 so i'll have to wait for 2.0

Mine too, I suspect the ATI support because just after the new splashscreen I loose video, fortunatly the role back is dead easy.

Hey guys. I am running XBMC Buntu Eden. How do you update this - as in a commit based update? Since sudo apt-get upgrade after sudo apt-get update doesn't update xbmc at all.

Please advise.

Re: openelec beta

Anyone else having issues with Audio loss after the screen saver starts ??

I'm running the latest beta with a ATI card, if I pause a video and switch of the tv, and later switch it back on at a later time there's no audio, the only way to get the audio is a reboot..

According to a post on the openelec forum it has something to do with the screen saver.

Have you tried accessing it via the xbmc Web interface? The remote brings my display back
