hey guys, I have a HP Touchsmart 610. It came with Windows 7 Professional 64bit.

Ever since a friend of mine brought home a usb stick with documents, once he plugged it out - the pc shut down and restarted. But strangely enough, the keyboard and mouse dont work now. Thats probably because the setting in bios state keyboard and mouse will only work once windows 7 has booted up. I'd say, let's change the bios settings, but no keys work.

Seeing it has a 'invalid' switch-off, its asking me to select "resume windows" or to "delete resume part and start normal"... but i cant select with my keyboard. I have tried all other USB ports on the pc, no luck.
When the pc boots up - the keyboards lights do light up - and i have tried the same keyboard in my laptop, which worked - so its not the keyboard itself.

Any ideas on how to get past this?
Ow, before I forget - I have reset the cmos... but it seems default setting for these (AIO) Pc's is for the keyboard to be switched off until it reaches windows. damn you hp :P

Any help will be appreciated :) thanks guys!!

Hi buddy,

I think you've got yourself a blown usb bus. Send it back. They will fix it under warranty if it is still active. If not, then your screwed. New mobo to fix it.

These AIO units are all crap. I had a dell I had to send back 4 times.

Hey P00HB33R,

Thanks for your quick response... but if the USB bus was blown, it wouldnt show lights upon boot up, would it?

There are 2 USB ports on the side, and 2 at the back, and 1 "as they call emergency USB port"... all don't respond during boot, but all provide the lights on the keyboard nonetheless upon bootup.

I know, despise these AIO's :/ but it's what i use for work, and seeing work paid - not much choice :)

I am not sure about the lights on the keyboard but I am pretty sure that is a USB bus issue. Whether it be data or power. But just repair it under the warranty.

Cheers mate

Are you able to click F2 / Del (or whatever button) to enter bios settings?

After you boot into windows, try plugging in a usb flash drive.

If you cant even get into bios, chances are you have blown your usb bus. Otherwise its most likely that windows lost the drivers of the usb.
