HSDPA 3.6 : Activation process

And using vodacom4me.co.za

I did not get an SMS to say it was activated, but I did get one when I cancelled it.

Edit: Seems this is only on PP. Contract does not have that link.

I received an SMS to confirm that my activation request was pending and would be processed within 24hrs and that a further SMS would be sent when activated, but I did not receive another SMS after it had actually been activated.

I activated using v4me (used internet at work) in the morning and by the afternoon when I fired up my card for the first time there were no SMS's at all. So no pending notice or final activation notice. I have received the pending cancellation notice and am supposed to receive a final cancellation on 27 Feb. Will have to see what happens.

I received no SMS's at all ... I just noticed the speed improvement ... well not tonight, tonight is terrible!!

morkhans, that link is available for contract subscribers, thats how I activated mine

It seems there was a "hidden" SMS...

Your HSDPA 3.6 service is currently active.
Time: 27-01-2008 20:45:22
Just used the Reset Card option in ginggs' application, then switched to HMP to read the SMSes saying that I've used up my PPDB running speed tests, lo and behold the activation SMS I thought I never received...

Nashua Mobile

I'm with nashua mobile on contract, I assume the only way to activate is to call their call centre, which I've done, they said it would take 24 hours to activate.

How do I know if 3.6 is activated?

My quickest results are

Download Speed: 1089 kbps (136.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 347 kbps (43.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Interesting. I logged into a friends v4m account who is on contract and he did not have the link.

These are the confirmation sms's I got for prepaid activation on V4Me.

First one - "Your HSDPA 3.6 Prepaid service has been activated."

Then a second one - "Your HSDPA 3.6 has been activated successfully. The monthly subscription fee of R50 will be added to your bill." - WTF!

Probably they already built the text for the final service. Will sort it out.

Seems to work for me now :)

I activated on v4me ... waited an hour ... did a speedtest and got 2400 down (only 100 up though ...). I got no SMSs.

Nothing at v4me yet. No worries, I'll continue refreshing at 30 sec intervals. :D

Okay, I see it now. TBH it was probably there before and I was just in too much of a hurry. :D

The card is in the router, so I'll check for the SMSes with the little sim swop dance later.

Was told by Vodacom that my Option Nozomi card is not supported for 3.6. Ferck! Now they want me to either upgrade ot buy a new modem - this sucks!
