HTC DESIRE HD

bad thing about getting this from MTN is that they don't have a proper smartphone contract available for it. so i'd need a anytime with a data contract on top of it. fail.

I'm gonna get it on MTN, then use a Vodacom TopUp sim with it & keep the MTN sim as a backup. Sorted.

I stopped reading that garbage after the third point....iOS offers multitasking. WTF?? Android was DESIGNED for multitasking & Apple has a "sort of" multitasking environment for 3GS & 4 - can't have multitasking on iPhone 3G.

Must be one of the worst articles I've ever read....but I can see the user comments reflect my thoughts. :)
 
i really would just like a date as to when the DHD will be released, its well worth the wait but atlast give us an ETA.
Its not like the phone is still in Dev its already out there what is taking so long???
 
I fell into the trap of being impatient! I got a SGS! But that is ok as both my MTN and Vodacom contracts were due for upgrades (thought the Vodacom is due early next year, but actually it is due on the 18th). So I thought it would not be too much of a hassle!

But what I can say is that MTN has the worst salesmen! Don't believe a word they say! The guy I took the upgrade from at MTN Pavillion told me the phone wont be available for at least 3 months. This was 2 weeks ago! And now Vodacom has confirmed that it will be available in two weeks (Head Office - through Twitter). And MTN - the guys that know, also confirmed it will be released any day now - it is being shipped as we speak!

Just hang in there - it will be available very very soon!
 
I think it's MTN's way of saying "hey, actually we have NO idea when the DHD is arriving. So, let's tell everyone "soon".. That way, if we get it in the next 2 weeks, everyone will think we are heroes, if we receive it later, well, we did say "soon"... "

argh, is it that difficult to get an ETA? someone must know !?
 
I just wish sales people at these stores are more informed as to what is going on out there! I hate going into one of their centres and being told "but the Desire is available"! I could just scream! Not the Desire people, the Desire HD! I think it should be compulsory that they sign up to MyBroadband ;)
 
I guess that sales people are too lazy or incompetent to check in their inventory system. Any self respecting business would have real time inventory system with information like stock levels, delivery ETA, and all of that stuff.

I have learnt very long ago that never trust even single word that a sales person says. Trust them as same as you trust a used oh sorry "pre-owned" car sales.
 
can anyone confirm that the HTC Desire HD will be coming to SA with android 2.2 ?
 
No. it comes with 1.6! :p





Actually, yes, 2.2 with new Sense UI stuff.
 
lol im just asking cause i saw an earlier post stating that the Hd's coming to SA wont come with the latest android.
Now i just have to let the wait kill me, vodacom really dont know whats going on.

We haven't even got the phone and it already has two over the air updates! We're behind before we even started!
 
Im getting the phone from whoever gets it first .. be it mtn or vodacom .. i just want it ... like yesterday :)
 
Sorry boyz. My application has gone for credit approval. Should get mine by tomorrow. No longer will it just be a Desire, but a reality.

That's good news .. as they told me i should phone on wednesday ... things has just been hectic today ... This atleast means we know they have ... so we will be able to get soon ...

Think I should phone MTN again and make sure they understand that my order is the most important one.
 
it's also good to see that with the 2 updates they managed to fix some bugs .... like the youtube error and also the proximity sensor ... so when we actually get the phone... we wont have those issues (if you update ofcourse)
