I'm still hoping for the last week of November, cos apparently MTN will get it a week before Vodacom and the Vodashop in the V&A Waterfront told me they're getting it in December....so let's be positive. :)
 
Well i saw the Demo at Menlyn Retail in Pretoria and wow i just wanted the phone now but i was told by the htc rep chances are maybe at the end of the week but they will be latest in by next week they are in the country, even the rep for Sony Ericsson is getting one WOOO HOoooooooooo:D
 
I went to the MTN in canal walk and the HTC guy that sits in the corner as u come in said that it will def be out the last week in NOV
but for some reason i dont wanna believe him, dont wanna get my hopes up, disappointment sux!

join the party! ive been in the market for a phone for 2months now. (not that im in a rush) but i would like it to come before christmas at least.

That's the same guy who told me it would definitely be available from the 15th...so ya...don't think he really knows
 
Just called nashua mobile again, and the lady on the other end says they have no ETA. But last week the ETA was last week of November .... what gives?
This looks like another GT5 launch delay issue :(
If it continues i'm going to get my old 5100 out the cupboard!!
 
Just called MTN retentions. At least their story is still the same, namely end-Nov.
 
I see GSMArena has confirmed that the DHD is a normal LCD, not S-LCD.

You know, sometimes i don't quite understand HTC. The DHD is their top tier device, yet no S-LCD (which the Desire Z does have). No Bluetooth 3.0. Inferior battery, (come on, they could have squeezed a 1500mha in there if they wanted to) and the slightly crappy plastic back panels, no camera button and apparently bad speaker and sound output quality. Now how do you explain that?

Make no mistake, i'm getting one. It would just have been nice if they managed to dot all the t's and cross all the i's. And it really shouldn't have been that hard to do for what is supposedly their premier device.
 
the bad speaker and sound quality issue is a little bit touch and go

some reviewers say its ok, some say its good, some say its bad.

i think it may be because of its "Dolby digital SRS mobile" solution to mobile sound that may get people excited that finally good mobile sound has arrived.

but i do agree with you dotVIBE, the DHD is basically the 3G version of the Evo. yet the evo has really good reviews all round

I agree with all your points.

HTC had the perfect opportunity to make this the uberphone of 2010, but now it will just be a very good phone (but I'm definitely getting one!).

Imagine this phone with a Super AMOLED screen, or a S-LCD display. WOW. My thinking is it will surface in a new HTC phone next year.

The only reason I can think of as to why HTC didn't slap in a bigger battery, must be the newer CPU....but why not go the extra mile and but in the biggest battery they could find? Well, I'm sure batteries will surface later that will give you some extra juice, but just thought HTC could have done it themselves, instead of their users having to shell out for a bigger battery later.

And fix the damn speaker on the phone! Hasn't this been a problem with most/all HTC phones before? If it IS a real problem, just fix it, dammit.

Not for long! Just gotta wait for HTC to come out with "DHD2.0 (Gingerbread)" 2001,Q2 - with everything the DHD should have been!

With this video you can clearly see the difference between LCD & S-LCD.....the Desire HD's screen looks "washed out" against the Desire Z. :(
