HTC DESIRE HD

Soon, very soon.....

I see you're still torn between the Galaxy S and Desire HD.

It's time to make peace with yourself. :p

Of course, I'm only human :p
I love the build quality of the HD and HTC sense but I love the screen on the Galaxy as well as the battery life. Eish......

Yup, I'm upgrading from an iPhone, so just knew that I wouldn't be happy with a plastic phone....that was one of the main reasons I didn't get a Galaxy S.... but, I must confess, at one stage I was very close to getting one.

I'm used to my iPhone 3G's okish screen, so anything will be an improvement for me + mobile review reckons the SLCD display is more natural colors than the overly bright amoled display.

*The battery life is also not a big issue for me, cos if I'm going away for the weekend, the Desire HD will stay at home and I'll take my Nokia Navigator with - and keep it switched off. :)

MTN is already advertising the Desire HD in their November edition - full page ad nogal.

Yes, but only as "coming soon!" with no pricing!
Maybe the SP's are planning on bundling free DATA with it on Anytime 100/200/+ (Like the iPhone and Wildfire -Vodacome promo)
We can dream! ;)

Any clarity yet on the new batch of DHD's comming with S-LCD's ?

I honestly don't know.

I've been reading up on it quite a lot, but still getting conflicting stories. A lot of reviewers claim it's S-LCD, while others say it's regular LCD. Maybe HTC supplied some phones with regular LCDs because Sony can't manufacture the S-LCDs fast enough.

Like I've said before, let's just hope our phones will be S-LCD. :)

this is getting too much

so i like the gps story and the cloud services, but the rest...

is it worth the risk

maybe no s-lcd
low battery
waiting and hoping to get stock

my head hurts

So i sent an email to leaf regarding the screen technology this morning, within the hour they replied

heres what i sent:

What type of screen technology does the HTC Desire HD have within it?

is it S-LCD or normal standard LCD, ive seen reports of the Desire HD having both.

so which one is it?

Thanks

heres the reply:

HI ****.

Thank you for your mail, the Desire HD has S-LCD screen technology.

Should you require additional information please feel to contact me directly.

That is FANTASTIC news!! So we will be getting S-LCD screens after all. Yummy.

I just installed the HD ROM on my Desire & it seems SA is on the list for HTC Locations offline navigation! This is yummy news!

Keep giving us good news!

The offline navigation was one of the main reasons I wanted to get this phone, now it's just getting better & better.

Come on MTN, hurry up and give me my phone!

So that means we dont have to pay for locations on the DHD? That will be awesome :)

Now where to mount the phone on my car's dash? Not sure I want it in the window.

No, seems you will still need to for turn-by-turn, but converting the $ price it's about R280 for the life of the device - much better than dropping a grand+ on a Nuvi. I've just activated a 30 day trial; I'll give it a test when I fetch the wife from work this arvie and report back.

Hi Guys

Thanks for the threat, been reading here every day.

Just talked to HTC Leaf at vodaworld. The say they have 8 in stock (received today). They already sold 2. Selling them on a first come first serve basis.
As they are a retail shop they only sell them (none available on contract).

When I asked when it will be available at vodacom and mtn they replied: "probably withing a month"

I asked Leaf directly when the DHD will be available at vodacom and mtn, they replied: "last week in November"

Still Positive!
