HTC DESIRE HD

decided to rather hold out till early next year for Nexus S from Samsung. looks like it might
have a dual core processor . :wtf:

AND NFC (near field comm) basically a walkie talkie to another NFC device

I have my contract through my company via AutoPage on Vodacom. I got a call this morning from my head office, they just received my DHD and they are couriering it to my home address. Once I receive it I will post photos.

I am comparing the Experia X10, iPhone4 and DesireHD. I would like to know whether the Desire HD have a scratch resistant surface. Thanks

The X10 is a second-rate Android handset; you can safely disregard it. The DHD does have a glass screen - not quite the Gorilla Glass of the iPhone4, but my normal Desire doesn't have a scratch on it after about 6 months' use.

also, do you have a amoled Desire or a SLCD desire?
Mines amoled.

Difference is because Desire is set to full brightness by default and I see Desire HD was on Auto adjust.

Love the big screen on the HD. Must be awesome for surfing the net.

HD also has a lot more apps pre-installed even though they both on Android 2.2

Thanks, now I have to decide between DHD and iPhone 4

Okay so we all know what the MTN deals are, but what are the Vodacom deals with the DHD ?
Do you get free megs too?
I would love to drop MTN like a hot potato as I was also a victim of their overbilling fiasco !

I saw Virgin Mobile advertising the DHD for R 320 pm with R300 airtime & 1000 sms's yesterday in the newspapers.

Awesome. So then theres prob also a good chance of Cell C doing their R280 deal on this phone as well.

Can you use the R300 airtime for data as well ?
Do you know their data rate per MB ?

I just have this weird feeling that mobile phone hardware & software will make rapid jumps in the coming year, that's why I'm getting the Desire HD on my MTN contract & keeping my Vodacom account status as "due for an upgrade".

So when the dual core CPU mobile phones start hitting the market next year & it proves to be way beyond what we have now with 1Ghz CPUs & 512MB RAM, I can join all the fun.

Nice to be able to get a new phone every year. It's the way I like it. :)

Next year will definitely be very exciting phone wise. I wish you guys would get your bloody DHD's already so you can report back on the battery life :D

I'm gonna try and break the record for the fastest depleted battery. :)

Very used to crappy battery life on my mobile devices, my iPhone does not last very long when you start using apps & my notebook (crappy dual core) only lasts an hour and 20 minutes.

Like someone said before, if you want this baby to work hard for you, start investing in extra chargers, or live next to Koeberg.

Finally got a reply from vodacom:

"As per the feedback we have received from our Procurement Department, the HTC Desire HD estimated time of arrival is the first week in December.
Only once the handset is launched at Vodacom will the prices and packages be available."
