HTC DESIRE HD

Screen protectors are very very good. Really almost unnoticeable, had to check if mine hadn't fallen off once or twice.

The gel cases are nice, really only protects the cover (back) of the phone but has nice grip and seems good quality. Does not make the phone bulky.

The leather pouch is good quality but makes the phone a bit bulky (cut off my belt clip), don't really see the use of it when you've got the screen protector and gel case on but looks nice.

Battery charger is nice, see previous post.

Cables are average, usb cable seems to take longer to charge the phone from my laptop than my original does. Haven't used the car charger.

1500 mAh battery seems to provide better battery life. (been playing a lot of games the last two days, not really had a chance to test it under normal use)

Car cradle is a bit flimsy, not very stable in the car, does not charge phone, does not activate car dock. It really is just a plastic holder that sucks onto the windshield.

Stylus is really crappy, does not work well at all, thrown mine away already.

So I got myself a Desire HD just a couple of days ago. I'm gonna ask some questions that probably has been talked about a lot already... Still, here goes...

1) Other than "The Market" on the phone itself, where else can I find Apps?

2)GPS: I have Google Maps pre-installed and it works, but there is no voice navigation...

a) Is there a way to get voice navigation?
b) Is there another FREE app with maps AND voice navigation?
c) Is there a way to get FREE maps for Ndrive? (or any other nav-app?)

3) How and where do you download apps on your PC and then install them on the Desire HD?

4) My "Calender" is the only thing that doesnt allow me to Sync with my PC... Why is this?

5) How can I Sync my old Blackberry Bold's callender and Notes with my Desire HD?

Hope you guys can help with these questions. I must say - all-in-all, I'm quite impressed with my purchase so far!

Concerning the q's about free maps etc. - feel free to send pvt msgs! ;-)

Wow that's a lot of questions! ;)

I can help you out with a few:

1. There are other markets like the AppBrain market, but it seems at the end of the day all roads lead back to the Android Market. There are some apps that exist outside the market, however, you need to know where they exist. But you can find just about anything you need on the Android Market, so it's not too much of a worry.

2. Further back in the thread there was some discussion about Route 66 and Tom Tom, it seems if you want decent voice navigation you'll need to fork out a bit. Almost R300 for a lifetime subscription if I recall correctly. Take a look and see if you can find the discussion.

3. Again, a few third party apps, if you know where to find them (maybe Google can help, I dunno :D). Download to you PC, insert your phone and upload to the SD card (choose storage option when prompted). You can install something like Astro file manager to find it on your phone. Click and install!

4. Not sure about this one, not something I do :/ Anybody else know?

5. Ah, I did my Curve to my DHD. Best bet is to use Blackberry Manager and sync to Outlook (I'm sure express works fine, too). Then install the HTC sync (found on your SD card, or got to htc.com for the latest software) and sync from Outlook to your phone. Just make sure you choose sync from PC to phone and not the other way around!

Good luck and enjoy your new phone! :)

Guys & gals, don't know how to say this, but I'm having so much fun with my phone!!
