HTC DESIRE HD

Guys, if you experience lag try this quick fix. Worked for me and a buddy.

Go to settings, application, development and make sure that USB debuggging is checked.

Also, with regard to battery life...when I got this phone my girlfriend and I had broken up so I didn't use it as much. I surfed a little, email, played some ggames etc and the battery would last me easily until i went to bed. When.we got back together, we were on whatsapp all the time and surprise surprise...I could only make it to 7pm.

Its really dependent on usage. Don't forget that our phone has a HUGE screen. Its a positive that results in a negative.

Moral of the story?
Go to bed at 7pm.
:)

Whatsapp is runs on WIFI/3G
So, try this..

Disable 3G on your mobile - can't remember how, but you can. Instead, opt for Edge (2G) or something like.
Enable powersave for your WIFI. It helps.

I agree that initial use may be higher on the phone but comparing the battery life to my previous fone, bberry 8900, the DHD is dramatically less.. the lag is not longer experienced and I was most obvious whilst playing 'Angry Birds' with several apps open... App Killer sorted all that. I really hope the battery life improves with future updates as I believe if you are going to use the phone as it is meant to, ie, calls, browsing, downloads etc..then you should be getting more .. I've been at work for 15 minutes and my batter is already at 95%..having only take 2 calls on my way to work and leaving the house on 100% full.

I went to buy a Nokia mini USB cable last weekend, now I can charge my Desire HD at work or in my car. Dont like to carry my "home charger" cable around.

Problem solved. :)

Joke is the lag issue and others have been fixed back in December and was in the update that we never got in SA, also 2.2.1 has some fixes for battery use as well. Sepose if Vodacom/MTN or Cell C gives us 2.3 it wont matter but I will not keep my fingers crossed. You can root and custom rom it but I really love sense esp the widgets. My Desire is rooted but that's also out of the warranty period.

Is there a shortage on the DHD at the moment? I ordered one from V4u on Monday, and just want to prepare myself for the possible wait...

The more I look at people's waiting times the more I wonder how the hell I got mine in 2 days esp seeing that I am in the back-side of the world so to speak, but something tells me there is a sudden increase in demand that was not catered for by the service providers.

Lots of people woke up late, lots of crapberry converts (ever seen the disbelief in their eyes when you whip out your Desire HD? I love doing that. :) ) and now with the news that the Desire HD will be getting the Sense 3.0 and Gingerbread 2.3 updates, everybody wants one!

I've ordered mine a week ago from a V4U and I'm still waiting. Supposedly its on a back order but they couldn't confirm a delivery date. Sighness :(

Exactly what I did NOT want to hear. Luckily it is for my wife and I still have my original Desire to keep me busy.:D

I went to my local Vodashop, asked about stock, they said 'next week - 2 weeks time'

Took a drive to Voda[-]world[/-]com World and picked up the phone after filling in the paperwork

Went to V4U this morning to pick up my phone, their system was down, couldn't to anything. Try again tommorrow...

It must have made you cringe. :)

Nowadays people only get taught how to operate the cash register....where are the days when people were still brainy enough to whip out the plain old invoice book and do it manually?

But....definitely worth it to go back tomorrow. ;)

Lol.

I remember the days we had to line up at the banks to withdraw. No ATMs.
Damn. I'm getting old.
:/

Don't worry. I'm on my way. You are preaching to the converted. I've been using my old Desire for almost a year now. That is why my wife is getting this new one. Android all the way. Even my kids named the gold fish Google and Andoid.:D

Then it's official.

You've taken fanboyism to a whole new level...
:wtf:

So I've just got a replacement HTC Desire HD because the first one, 90% or the time, couldn't make or receive calls. Also data often didn't work either.

Charge the new one up, make a couple calls. Back to the exact same issue. Also somehow this "brand new" phone knew what my wireless network key was. Is that something that get's backed up on your Google account, or is that suspicious?

I know that it's not a network problem because my old HTC Magic works fine in the same area, with the same sim card.

Is anyone else having the same problem? Or can suggest what I should do?

Get a different make. If you must go the Android route, go for SE or Motorola.
