HTC DESIRE HD

Play'ed that one as well, awesome game. I just can't understand why I can't stop playing Battleheart, compared to Dungeon Hunter its medeocer....bad graphics, no story,...a well....

Well, this morning my (standard unfiddled-with still-on-Froyo) HD decided it's had enough of making and taking calls. When I answer (or dial out) there's nothing, just a very soft eeeeeeeeee. Tried the sim in other phones, no problem. Tried switching to speakerphone, same noise. Thing can still play music and sound so.......

Joy, where do I take this thing? I'm based in Centurion.... Phone just over 3 weeks old. Frustrated? A little....

Ja, basically your phone will be as you received the first day.
If you send it away to be fixed, then you will loose everything anyway.

Just download a backup app, backup everything. Then restore after reset.
I use "Mobile Backup II" for Logs, contacts, SMS etc. and "App Monster Pro" for apps.

Also, it may be an app that made your device malfunction. Try to restore one at an time and test.

Is it only this morning? Try driving to another area and see if it isn't your receiption???? May sound funny, but it happened to me (Vodacom tower was faulty)

Only this morning, was fine last night. Didn't update, download or change anything inbetween. Funny thing, my wife called about 10min ago and for an instant I could hear her, then the dreaded 'eeeeeee' (VERY soft) started and that was that. Put the sim in my old phone and it works fine as well.

Halfway through backing up. Only got App Monster, not pro, but it has an option for backing up. Ag, if I lose apps, I'm not too bothered, just want the bloody phone to work properly.

EDIT: well, it worked - Thanks Beans!!! Saved me a trip to wherever I was going to trip too
Of course, being the noob that I am, I now don't know how to restore because App Monster seems to be gone too. Oh well, small fry, at least the thing is working properly again.

Of course, why/how it happened in the first place is another issue...

For some reason my Gmail isnt pushing e-mail anymore, i have to force a manual synch to get them, Ive added another GMail Acc to my main GMail acc recently (one for work one for play) could this be a problem?

I couldn't connect to gmail at all, just get a 'network error'. Whether I went through my sim (vodacom) or pass-through to my PC (cell c).

Oh, anyone know how to buy apps, if you don't have a credit card. Yes, I'm full of idiotic questions today...

2 Options, you can buy CC's in USA and you can also try using your debit card, My Visa Debit card works no problems.

Tell me more... :P
I didnt know you could pay with a debit card on the market, how do you facilitate that? via PayPal or somesuch, elsewise, how does it facilitate the PIN securely authorising a payment etc.

You could of course also just log your accounts into accounts and sync the way they were previously, market should auto download the apps you previously had installed. thats how mine got most apps back after a factory reset... (Reset after Ginger update, in a panic thought it killed my battery, now its retrained itself and batt lasts rather well)

Well, it bombed out again, cannot hear anything when making or taking calls. Where do you actually take a problem HTC? Got the contract through Vodacom, at Vodaworld. I doubt it's 'standard' to have to factory reset the phone daily........

Only apps I reloaded yesterday were whatsapp, go sms pro, 3g watchdog, es file explorer and Battery indicator. Games were Angry Birds and Paradise Island (which is pointless, don't do it ;) )

Can't imagine these being the problem? Everything else (and I mean EVERYTHING) is standard.

edit: factory reset didn't fix it this time...

I just added my Visa debit card as I would add a CC. With the Expire dates and the CVS numbers that is on the back. Been using it like that for years.

Terminolgy confusion here. Some banks refer to Visa / Mastercards issued on accounts with no credit facility as a debit card, yet they still work on the conventional credit card system. Then there's the Visa Electron or Mastercard Maestro type debit card. These cards don't have expiry dates, CVV etc but work with a PIN number. Don't think you'll be able to use the Electron / Maestro system to buy online though.
