HTC DESIRE HD

I suspect that the file used may have failed the CRC check so you might have to find a way to re-apply the update with a fresh file. On how to do it the easy way have no clue.

Thanx Elimentals, do you know of software that will allow me to completely backup the phone (Contacts & messages being priority) before I flash the device with 'clean' software?
*HTC Sync won't pick up any contacts or messages

The update has been slightly unreliable, answering the phone from a locked screen just keeps ringing and the phone hangs (needs the battery removed to stop it). It will also randomly fail certain process and prompt me to report it to HTC which I do....

I have done the factory reset and the problems persists....

I'm still happy with my MIUI.us set-up. Not much of a Sense fan anyway.

Thanks for that... Managed to backup only the SMS's from the phone (All the apps kept on crashing when I tried to backup contacts) Did a factory reset and all is now working!
I don't want to put a custom ROM on my Moms phone, incase something goes wrong whilst I'm not nearby (I don't live at home) so its sometimes two months before I see her.

Might do it on my phone though *rubs hands together, and thinks of ideas :-)

Hi people. How much is this phone cash, and where?

Think you will have to settle for second hand as its a bit old now. Well in android world its old. Picked mine up in Feb for about R 5500 at Vodafonesa shop.

This update does not work with the dstv mobile decoder on the market. So my drifta is useless for now!

anyone else find that after the update, battery life is just so much shorter?

I never paid much attention, as I use this phone mostly for browsing, but it does seem much shorter. I'm recharging much more now, especially with heavy use compared to before the update, thought it might be the age, but this phone is not even a year old yet.
Is there still an app for rooted devices that works with the drifta, the drifta is the only reason I kept the stock rom, now that's out of the window as well.
I wonder if multichoice will even bother fixing this!

It is around if you look for it..... ok I see MegaUpload removed it because of copyright violation.

Guess DSTV folk requested em to remove it....

I e-mailed DSTV, they replied by telling me I should uninstall and reinstall the app, which I did before I bothered to ask them. Still, I tried it and nothing change, I was hoping they actually did something on their side...

Just go to Menu>Personalise>Lockscreen>Wallpaper lockscreen and change the settings (the bottom right button)
There you can edit the shortcuts

Edit: Sorry, read your Q and saw the first reply saying you need to replace your lockscreen and went :gottareplynow::someoneontheinternetiswrong:... :P

After many ROM replacements and playing around (settled on RCMix Sense 3.5 and GB 2.3.5 for long), I got bored and was looking for a stock rom, yesterday I saw that HTC will officially unlock the bootloader so decided, :Meh: whynot.

So I found out for the first time that apparently HTC already churned out a sense 3.0 rom, got the 3.12.405.1 RUU, installed it, then ran the bootloader update RUU from htcdev, then unlocked my bootloader...

No heavenly choir, not revelations, not even a recovery option to do a nandroid backup, nothing, installed superuser from market on startup and attempted to install busybox et al, wouldn't install. Cant attain root and to bored with rooting etc to figure it out now, will try later.

All I'm wondering is: Why did we have to wait for an official unlocked bootloader, what was the significance? GB still cant be edited to allow sudo-privilages without a hack workaround, the recovery doesn't have any options to backup or install a new ROM.zip from SD card... Farnkly I have no idea what significance the unlocked bootloader had.

Any ideas gurus?

(When I feel motivated again, I'll probably go back to earlier RUU and root, install 4ext touch, install RCMix or something again and wait for the ICS rom to come out of BETA...)

xrapid.. no, there are two "decent" ICS builds in development that I know of, the one by BeatMod (Beta 6.2) and the other that has sense built over it (currently at beta 1.0)

Both roms camera still not working and few other bugs too

Well unlocked bootloader just means you can now install Clockwork without the Unrevoked hack You still have to install clockwork recovery to flash your own roms and you still have to root the stock ROM if you plan on playing with the system files.

Anyway I am on MIUI and I am not moving.... maybe one day when I get a new phone this one can go back to testing all kinds of unstable crap you find all over the place.

I will try installing 4ext and see if I can get the touch recovery up and running again.

I see that unless I downgrade by RUU, I will need to use aaht to root this version of GB, will try when I get on teh PC at home

BTW, Elimentals, how many MIUI flavours did you try? Why'd you settle with the us version over others?
