HTC DESIRE HD

BTW, Elimentals, how many MIUI flavours did you try? Why'd you settle with the us version over others?

On my old Desire I use to use MIUI-au purely because they had the best ap2sd setup back then.

I 1st tried the original using language files to get it to English and tried the Galnet ones but always had some issue with some thing or another. The added bonus with MIUI.us was that they used the exact same Radio and RIL than the ones used on the stock version of my Vodacom Desire HD so I did not need to play around with radio files like with the original.

miui and cyanogen both have ics but only for nexus s, there are a few very alpha builds from less known developers for other handsets but i would not try it.

Like I said Galnet has an ICS Merge, and this is for most phones:

I tried the Desire HD one everything worked except for Tether. Unfortunately that is the biggest setback for me as I use tether a lot when on the move to share internet with my Eee Pad.

Edit: Forgot to mention, ICS Merger still looks very much like MIUI and use the same themes. It was a hell of a lot smoother than 2.3.7 versions but as I said tether was a deal breaker for me.

I downloaded the latest MIUI, will probably install it this weekend to test, got sick of the Cyanogen as i was about to go on leave so 4 hours of battery life was a deal breaker for me.

On that note, I am busy testing BatterXL beta on my phone. So far I like it, but will need to test it for some time to see if its any good.

3 Days so far and on 38% but will need more charge cycles to say if its better than Juice Defender or not. Has a bit of a problem to switch between WiFi & 3G but I am sure that will be sorted out...

YouTube link to my current theme set-up on MIUI.us it has a touch of ICS look with regards to icons and so on.

Hmmm after all this talk I thought I'll go look for a ICS theme for MIUI and found this:

It does not look too bad, in fact I may just keep it for a bit

Hi all,
My DHD finally got the update notification and since my update to Android 2.3.5 I keep getting the following sms: the heading states - sms alert. The body states - V4L 54% Voda. 40% other. Then I have two options to either save or cancel. This sms seem to be coming thru every minute or so and is becoming increasingly annoying. Anyone have any idea how I can get rid of this message.
(Ps. It doesn't come thru as a.standard sms message as I don't get a new sms notification. The message just pops up on the screen.)
Any and all ideas on getting rid of the popup problem would really be appreciated.

Looks like CB messages are activated, go to your SMS inbox then Settings and unclick CB Messages.

Can't seem to find CB Messages setting. Then for the whole day not one sms alert message. Thought issue had resolved itself. Suddenly this evening had like a 100 messages pop up on the screen had to continuously hit the cancel button.

I'm using Handcent sms as default app but cannot find CB Message setting in Messages sms app either.

You are looking in the wrong place.

Settings > Call > Cell Broadcast

Untick it and you should be fine. ;)

I finally rooted my desire HD. Running an ics rom at the moment. Still very rough around the edges though. I might try a miui from next.

Still happy with MIUI, will move to ICS once a rom comes out where everything works.... haven't found one yet.

What ICS rom you running?

So far http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428047 looks the best?

Still has some speed issues...

I'm using the beatmods ROM. The camera doesn't work 100%
I can live with that though.
So far it's not too bad, but it's the first ROM I flashed so have nothing to compare to.

I downloaded the miui.us after reading your praise for it and also downloaded the galnet ics ROM.
Gonna try some different things to see what works for me.
A stable build of ics would be good though.
