HTC Flyer tablet PC pricing details from MTN

Anytime 100 implies voice calls. This doesn't do voice calls unless I'm completely mistaken. Maybe bundled with a free phone MTN? ;-)

You have to have a contract voice package to have a data bundle, it's the same on any network-sim = voice & data.

As I mentioned before, the Anytime you can choose to have on Topup, so it caps at R100 airtime and then you load airtime if you need more, which I'd doubt on the tablet. You can however login to MTN Active and add data bundles to the sim card. I'd still use it with a CellC sim though.

get some rubber bands to tie it to your head, then u can go handsfree :D

I gues u make calls like with the Samsung Tab... hold it in front of u like video calling?
Doesnt it have Blootooth so u can pair it with one of them BT earpieces to make calls?

Article says this thing is pitted against 'smaller' tablets like the Samsung tab... umh... Samsung tab is 7" this thing is 7" :confused:

I would love one of these tablets, but I want 10"... so still waiting a bit.
Now 10"... thaaat would look like a brick on your ear :D
 
It has Bluetooth 3.0. Damn, I've spent the last few minutes watching videos of this tablet on Youtube and I'm really impressed. It also just looks so much better (aesthetically) than any of the other tablets.

the anytime is R100 to spend on either voice or data. so in this case it would be data only.

I have the original MTN press release here; here's the 12-month bit, verbatim

As part of its commitment to innovation through products and technology, MTN is offering the HTC Flyer for only R299 on an MTN Anytime 100 package which includes 150MB of free data a month over a contract period of only 12 months.

The wording suggests it was deliberately put as 12 months, not the kind of thing that could be a typo because of the "only 12 months". Which is amazing.

As for the "makes calls" bit... one could use a Bluetooth headphone, or use it with a handsfree kit in a car, couldn't they? Not saying it's ideal, but possible.

No thanks. HTC has let me down with updates for my phone, why should I spend more money on buying one of their tablets? I think not, I will wait for a product from a competitor. And, I prefer a 10" anyway.
 
mtn have obviously made a boo-boo. the bastards.
