They must not be sufficiently informed.

This makes ZERO business sense, so unless MTN or CellC release official statements expressly stating they are not going to offer this phone, I'm not inclined to believe otherwise.

Just wish Vodacom could drop the price on their contact R450 is a bit much for so little you get with the phone..
 
Is the HTC rep still around?

I'm due for an upgrade and as an avid HTC user in the past (I've had the s710 Vox, Touch Diamond 2 & now Desire S) I've been considering one of the One or One S. However, none of the cellphone outlets I've been to have either of them in stock - not even a dummy for me to hold. I'm really interested in getting one of these phones but you're making it very hard to do so!

That may or may not be true, time will tell. In the meanwhile virtually every review I've read rates the One as the best phone around. It's only the overtly Apple-centric sites that rate the iPhone 5 over it.
 
sooo any updates from MTN on a date for the ONE? as for stock ... i really doubt they would bring it
here but if it does come ... they can take my money!

Do you think it's possible that the current HTC One would be compatible with HTC's implementation of stock Android. I'm kind of new to this Android business and would rather not play around with various ROMs.

Just spoke to MTN Direct today. They have launched the phone but have no stock, I should check with the actual stores, some of which might have stock :/

At least I have 3 months to go for my upgrade, so the wait is not too distressing. Hopefully by then we get access to the 64GB version.

?! Really!!! i hope this is true cause im due for an upgrade as we speak and MTN and Cell C offer better deals than Vodacom!

sad though,how do you launch a device but don't have stock?probably to make us a bit more happy ..hope they receive stock by next week!
 
Whooo!! Good/bad news

i got through to several MTN staff yesterday and today confirming " we will be offering the HTC one(not the one X) by the end of the month"

So i said "damn im due for an upgrade now ,wish you had stock" she replied "would you like if i phone you with the pricing on the contract and when our stock comes in in the following 2weeks" YES!!!! PLEASE!!!

So asked her again..So what your telling me is that you will have stock in the next 2weeks and i can upgrade ?and not until the end of the month.. "yes sir that is correct"

so placed my order!! ..

The kinda bad news is.."we will only be receiving limited stock of this phone" so seems they'll be getting a hand full of these and await for the rest of the stock :/

Glad i could place my order ...these are going to be a few long weeks

Lucky…

I phoned MTN Maverick and they tell me that MTN will not stock the HTC One… Went to the local MTN Maverick store and basically got the same answer… I am due since September waiting on the HTC One arrival.

i got that answer as well 2weeks ago..seems they saw people want this device and made a plan

Might also be the reason why there is no new Yellow Deals booklets available, only seemed to see the 17 May – 2 June 2013 booklets. I asked and they said they have not received any new booklets…

They did tell me that they have the Huawei Ascend P2 available which is not advertised (only in-store)… Already old…
