I think the 7 May time was given as Vodacom does a "deal booklet" each month. The current booklet's last valid day is Sunday 6 May, and the new booklet will be released on Monday 7 May. The aim to have these phones before the new booklet goes out, as the One X is included in deals in this booklet.

Is this a booklet you need to get from a store or is there an online version?
Im sure I saw a nice online one at a stage but cant find it again.

Here you go:

I also found out another piece of bad news today... Vodacom does not do financing on most deals for phones anymore, especially on the TopUp packages which I am on. You have to now pay in the outstanding amount as a once-off fee. On my Topup 315s the phones cost:
iPhone 4s = R3899
Nexus = R4279
Galaxy S2 = R3709

This means that the One X will probably come in at the R5k mark... and then I would need to pay this amount in once off, not per month as I did every year before... This really sucks...

Where did you get this from? This would hurt loads of their customers so I dont see the business sense in doing this..

Spoke to a lady in the Tygervalley shop... she said it is like this on the TopUp packages. My wife heard the same, today is our upgrade day.

This does really suck, if I want financing, I will need to change to a business package. I don;t like them though, I always get a surprise at the end of the month on a "limitless" contract :(

I hate those surprises on the limitless accounts, the weekender was a nightmare...

I helped my wife get her upgrade last month and no hassles regarding the financing option...I will have to find out because I have delayed my upgrade (due last month) because I am waiting for the new phones.

Now here is an interesting response from my company cellulars services department (They manage our company corporate contracts)

"Please note MTN SP informed me that at this stage the device is not ordered for their network at all they will notify me if this changes"

I am with Vodacom, let's hope we get this....

Same here! I really need this for May, as my HTC Desire gave in over the weekend... Sitting with an old Samsung piece of scrap, don't know how long I will be able to wait if it isn't released on Vodacom in May! :erm:

I see you're S-OFF. I assume that means you've tried to fastboot a new boot.img, recovery.img ect and no luck?

Sorry, off topic a bit.

HTC One X is a beautiful phone - this one kills galaxy Note - hands down

So in anticipation of the phone's hopeful release with Vodacom next week, I see that it uses a microSIM card. What is the process of getting this done, can a sim swap be done to keep your same number?

You can go to Autopage and they'll cut your existing one for about 50 bucks.

HTC one x is officially on MTN,go to mtnsp website, under retail specials..gonna try to source one tomorrow..was due for upgrade a month ago (not desperate as I have the best phone of 2010, the Desire, only problem is memory for apps )..lets hold thumbs..
