HTC One X

I emailed them with a threat that I wanted to cancel my contract and got this:

Dear Darryl

Kindly note that we have liaised with our Procurement Division who has advised that the Estimated Time of Arrival for the HTC One X is end of June 2012.

Regards

Robyn Friester

More wait or switch??

What crap! They just want to get as much market share of the S3 before they bring any other flagship phones. And the price they put on the S3 is crazy.. R369 for their business contract!

If you going to wait then I would suggest maybe wait and then switch to Cell-C. Cell-C is releasing their new tariff plans on 22 June, and you can also choose how long you want your contracts for (Link below). If Vodacom is really only bring it out at the end of June, and assuming Cell-C will get the OneX then I'm just going to sign with Cell-C :D

Yup, 2 months left on VC contract so am weighing the cost of cancelling with the need for something new and sparkly.

Problem is that my Legend is still working so damn good I can't justify the expense... urggg

Yeah, also saw the new Cell C prices - very impressive.

Definitely switch to them if they do bring the phone in...

I suspect the guy that emailed me is just saying June to stop me from switching, but I have a feeling we're probably only going to see it on VC in July releases.....

Ive ordered 2 covers from Takealot importing from UK. They are only set to arrive on the 22nd :o

I really need a cover for my phone ASAP. Does nobody stock them in SA?

Yup, I agree. They don't release phones randomly.. on the IF chance they do get the oneX then they will only release it on their next monthly cycle.. (7th July).

I have seen stories here of people complaining about their turnaround time... Mine arrived in 11 days which was fine for me since I don't have my phone yet....

I'm so fed up with Vodacom and their BS wrt to the release date of the One X. I swear if Cell C offers the One X I'm gone!!!!!

Ditto, very unhappy with the way they handled (or didn't handle) this huge release...

Agreed, but I'm sceptical about going with Cell C, as I read an article somewhere that HTC will soon have direct local support, bypassing Leaf, but only for Vodacom and MTN.

I called MTN a few minutes ago and they basically comfirmed more stock of the One X for next week. If it's true, who knows...

I also read that HTC is going to start a more aggressive marketing campaign in SA and promote their entire One line (OneX, OneS, OneV). They said this in May and they said it was going to happen the start of June, yet still it's only MTN that offers the phone. Right now I think Vodacom is the culprit here. If MTN is getting more stock and have had it for 1 month already then why hasn't Vodacom come out with it. PLUS MTN now offers both the OneX and the S3. I'm pretty certain Vodacom purposely did it that way to try and market the S3, as they probably wouldn't want to release two flagship phones at once... What a BS strategy.. not impressed with Vodacom!

This is BS. I am really dissapointed in Vodacom.
If you google HTC One X and Vodacom there are just complaints on forums and HelloPeter about this crappy situation. If even more of us can say something on HelloPeter and Twitter, maybe they would do something... They have been quite responsive on previous occasions when people make a huge deal out of something like this online.

I left a comment on their Facebook page and 5 mins later it had been deleted. So if that's their attitude toward their customers, I'll go spend my money elsewhere.

yes i agree ,update 1.29.401.11 ,is available for download ,(update is about 12/14 mb in size ) if anyone is interested .(i just downloaded ,took about +- 5/ 10 minutes in all. )i am using vodacom network and update service works ok, ( would like to know what/whose " servers" are pushing out update ? google ? htc , voda , mtn ? ) the point i am trying to make, is voda have not even begin to sell the hox ,so who is " pushing" local updates,on voda network ?
(it does fix the " sd storage problem " )

Really. That's terrible. Try and email there marketing division directly. And tweet about it. I will to. Even though i think I'm just gonna get the s3.

I'm also going to try and email htc directly. Leaf are underhanded and incompetent.

Found this in another article:
Vodacom has hinted that it expects to launch the One X early in June, but it is understood that the operator is now looking at a mid-July launch. This date is merely indicative and may yet change.

To S3 or not to S3, that is the question?
