HTC Touch Diamond

I updated to the 1.93 ROM yesterday and as Arthur mentioned it makes a big difference! TF3D is indeed much quicker and allot more responsive and precise....Before it seemed to jerk occasionally but thankfully no longer. I can already notice battery life has improved slightly, charged it fully before the upgrade and played with the phone pretty much the whole night and this morning was only 1 bar down compared to about 2 or 3 in the past. Installation was a breeze and took about 10 minutes or so to complete. I would recommend this upgrade to anyone with the older ROM. Thanks to Arthur for login details and instructions. ;)

I'm planning on upgrading this evening. Have any of you noticed any issues with the new ROM yet? I read on some international forums the battery indicator disapeared (could just be those americans... :) )

Nope no issues at all so far, everything running just fine. ;)

Upgraded about an hour ago and finally got everything setup again the way i had it. Does seem a little bit faster...

Any of you know how to permanantly switch off the sim contacts being displayed in the contact list? I've edited the registry but after restart its back.

Having followed the whole "Iphone 3g is coming to SA" debacle which has become a complete joke, I decided to do some research on this phone and have decided that it is the phone for me.

I was a bit worried about the speed of the TF3D in the initial reviews, but I just watched some vids on the new 1.93 ROM, and it looks like its flying now, but I still have a few questions re some of the features.

1. Where's the best place to purchase this device in JHB outright (no contracts please)?
2. Does it support Java apps?
3. I've been a faithful S60 fanboi for a while so hows the transition to WM 6.1 going to be for me?

1. Best place to purchase it would be Leaf, there is one in Cedar Square in Fourways.
2. Yes it does support Java apps
3. I was using the N80 before my TD which is S60 and the transition has been very smooth for me, more so than I expected. It is actually a really easy phone to use and you will get used to it in no time. I am pleasantly surprised and impressed with WM.

And by the way I also was concerned about the TF3D being slow but even on the old ROM I was happy with it, the upgrade has made it faster though.

Flipping through menus and setting etc on the TD is much faster than my N80 was if that gives you an idea of the speed.

S for Symbian, S for Slooow!:p

I'm still getting an HSDPA connection and everything else is still fine and the phone does actually feel slightly faster.

Did you check the HSDPA Enabled setting in Advanced Network under the Connections tab?

after the rom update i am only getting edge ? anyone else ?

Like hschutte said, check the HSDPA box, make sure you on the auto band or WCDMA, if all thats correct, it might be area you in.

I updated my rom this morning and i'm overly impressed!! HTC Diamond is the best phone i ever had.... Iphone who??

I am so happy people are going for the HTC over the Iphone, Vodacom needs to be taught a lesson that they cannot keep screwing the public around

I was with vodacom (but then i waited and waited and waited for no info of the iphone) decided f$@k them and went with virgin and got myself the HTC Diamond.
