HTC Touch Diamond

hehehe... Arthur you make a compelling argument for the TD, I detect a salesman in the making or are you already one?:D

Got to agree with most of your points Arthur but how is the call quality on the TD?
Not a salesmen but a 'buysman' - I'm looking for reasons to buy ;).

Call quality is fine if unremarkable. Correspondents (as they are called in the i780 manual) reported no issues with regular or speakerphone calls. I'm not a heavy cellphone user so I'm probably not the best judge. It works.

Hey guys, just got my diamond yesterday and already loving it. Just one thing I'm desperately looking for is a GPS navigation application. I see a couple of people have asked in this thread already but no answer. From the little info I have found there seems to be many options available, but most applies to Europe and the US. I would like to know what are some of the solutions for SA?

Looking forward to an answer! :)

I am not a expert on GPS software however I have used Tom Tom on my N80 and it worked pretty well, and from what I have heard it is generally cheaper than others.

Good enough....:)

I use the HandyMAP Ai Gold, not sure if it is the best but it works for me

Try Nav4All (http://www.nav4all.com/). Definitely not the best, but free. The navigation is spot on. The route calculation is done in the cloud and downloaded to your phone which then directs you via simple onscreen graphics and voice.

looking for is a GPS navigation application
My R0.02 for what it's worth:
Over the past few years I've used HandyMap 4/Pro (PaPaGo USA), HandyMap 5, HandyMap Ai Gold, and Garmin Mobile XT. Garmin XT is by far the best of that bunch, not the least because it's very similar to the Nuvi devices (I have a Nuvi 710).

However, I'm seriously considering selling the Nuvi and moving to Tom Tom on both dedicated GPS and on the PDA, mainly because Tom Tom maps are purchasable and downloadable off the web whereas it seems you can buy Garmin maps on the web but they have to ship a DVD with the code ... I want it downloadable. At R70 a gig for extra bandwidth I'll gladly pay that rather than have a DVD shipped from wherever.

I have downloaded Google maps just to see if the GPS works......
How cool is it... you can SEE where you are driving. A must have party trick for all Diamond users.

I find it very useful when driving at night in unfimiliar areas. It lets you "see" the road ahead.

SEE as in a birds eye view of your actual vehicle or animation?

Probably asked before, but I'm sorry I don't have time to read the thread at this point in time. Can it run mxit?

good question as i was also interested in the phone but wondered to about mxit.

That is one sexy phone. I hadn't seen or heard of it until I read this thread. The advert on TV at the moment is also really nice.

Often phones look more glamorous in the TV ads designed to sell them. I can honestly say the Diamond in the flesh, is as good if not better than how it's portrayed in the TV ad. It's simply a stunning and magnificent piece of hardware...

After owning and being thoroughly disappointed by the sluggish and unresponsive HTC Tytn II I swore never to consider another HTC but IMO the Diamond simply cannot be ignored....

I eagerly await the Touch pro version...

did i not see the touch diamond on tv ad?i think its on talk500 for 1799 pay in on a vodacom contract
