I'm running Miri's WM6.5 (beta) on the THD now. Have spent the morning loading apps 'n stuff.
As you know, WM6.5 is largely an interim UI tweak of WM6.1, with the real effort going into WM7, due in 2010. There are a few additional goodies and options - here are some things I noticed in Miri's ROM:
* The default Home/Today screen UI is quite nifty. It's touch-aware and designed for fingers rather than a stylus. Text is large, and left-right swipe on many items cycles through options. I haven't figured how or even whether it can be customised.
* The text input selector adds Touch as an option (to Keyboard, Block, etc). This changes all the system menus and messages to a much larger finger-friendly format.
* The soft keyboard is a vast improvement over those in WM6.1. Much more usable.
* The drop-down Start menu is gone. Tapping Start takes one straight to an easily-finger-scrolled Apps page, with Settings as one of the icons.
* Finger navigation, text entry and menu selections are considerably easier than in WM6.1.
* Mail and messaging are still done in the same Outlook/Message app as before.
* Calculator has a facelift
In between work chores I'm still setting up WiFi and other stuff. Haven;t had time to fiddle and play much. Miri's ROM seems pretty stable and performs well.
