I have been following this thread since July now, faithfully reading it 4-5 times a week, patiently waiting for news of MTN's TYTN release. I have been due for an upgrade for over 2 months now, but still I wait patiently.

Now, it's almost 5 months later and I STILL DON'T KNOW WHEN THE DAMN THING WILL BE RELEASED!

Could someone please give an indication of when MTN will release the phone, regardless of the form factor? I mean, Vodacom allready has it, and who has ever heard of them being first to release anything? If they weren't such a total rip off, i'd have migrated my number there a week ago for this phone.

Please MTN, this phone was going to be my christmas present to myself. If I have to wait till next year, I might as well wait for the N95. And I don't want to. I want my windows mobile device. AND I WANT IT SOON!

I support your sentiment whole-heartedly! A nice simple answer would be great.

On a lighter note, I sense a "mine-is-longer-than-yours" debate starting very soon seeing as I have put off my upgrade for almost a year now. Hang in there - I too see a new TyTn in my Christmas stocking... :D

Are there any prices available for cost of the unit when upgrading on the various contracts. The service centres still have nothing on their price lists.

No prices or packages as yet but as soon as I get the info

I do appreciate your input in keeping us posted with the info available to you over the past 5 months, and we realise that you can only give us information as you recieve them from the departments within MTN itself.

Man, i really "hope" so too. Been "hoping" for 2 months now. What's another 10 days? Now I must just "hope" that the pricing structure is reasonable.

Hi guys

i have also been postponing mu upgrade, calling myn, calling leaf, monitoring this site. i can safely say that we are a couple of months behind the latest tech down here in south africa !!!!

leaf says that mtn have approved the tytn but have not placed an order??? is someone asleep??

the jasjar was priced at R13000 by mtn when they mistakingly shipped it to me (3 months ago instead of the jasjam) they charged me R2500 for the upgrade. the jasjam is retailing for R 8500 so hopefully the upgrade should not cost more than R1500 altho i see Vodacom ripping off their top end subscribers charging between R3500 and R4200. If I was a VC subscriber I would pay cash for the device and shift to top end pay as u go packages and get some value.

i too hope too have a jasjam as my xmas present.

ps: i think the jas jam looks a lot nicer than teh tytn, more sleek, better presentation

R 13 000.00 for a Jasjar??? no ways ... the device retails for just over
R8000.00 .... as for the chip in price well i would think the TyTN would be priced a bit more .. cos if you think about it the JasJar was released a year ago .. so it would make sense to offer the Jasjar at a lesser price .. to get rid of old stock ...
