HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

Hi MTNDD

I think its time as loyal MTN subscribers that we get a straight answer from our network.

I am on the phone to the MTN Service Centre in Morningside, They informed me that MTN will not be getting the imate JasJam and that we will be getting the HTC TyTYN in January.

Im in for buying my own phone enough is enough

Nick

R 7150.00 excluding VAT ... With full device support which is the most important part about buying anything ..
Want one ?? Let me know ...

R 12000.00 for the HTC P4350 is down right ridiculous ... how do you justify a price like that?

@Afristar

I'm going to be honest with you - MTN do not have the JASJAM or the TYTN the only guys that do have the TYTN are VC

Please remember I don't really deal with when handsets come in or not I depend on Midrand to feedback to me on the questions you ask in terms of handsets. The info I got was we were bringing in the JASJAM as the TYTN wasn't approved as yet, I don't know how anyone at a service centre can give that kind of info out - The TYTN has been approved but there's no release date what so ever but I have mailed Midrand with your query and will advise ASAP............

Thanks MTNDD

Hi MTNDD

Thanks for your honesty - we don't doubt it.

The guys that need the kick in the pants seem to be the Midrand guys! I refer you to their very own reply above of almost 2 weeks ago - it is now the end of November and confusion still reigns. That is the type of nonsense we are talking about... :mad:

The service centres will very often say to you when you phone in that they do not have the phones listed but will contact the warehouse and come back to you. The info they are giving out apparently comes directly from Midrand. I rest my case.

A bit of honesty and transparency is going to go a very long way. The smoke and mirrors is just irritating everybody.

@Neural

I totally agree with you I think its nonsense that you get told something and there's no follow through in terms of the date specified, I've also vented my frustration with the Senior Manager Product Procurement who is ultimately in charge of getting units in and have will also forward this to him as I believe his the guy to take this up and provide feedback. All I can do from where I sit is forward query's about handsets to Midrand and wait for feedback I have no control over the handset dates or testing or anything really to do with handsets so guys please bear with me I'm doing my best and I know you guys appreciate the fact that I'm trying to get the info but just to let you know it's just as frustrating for me when I get a answer like the one above and it doesn't get delivered on....... But I can assure you I'll keep pushing for accurate information until I get it.

The JASJAM is awaiting sign-off. Once we have this signed-off we should get the stock within 7 working days.

Uhmm,

So what does that mean? OK, so it's the JasJam, not the TyTn, but Midrand is still not giving any clue as to when "sign-off" will take place nor is there a projected estimate of costs under contract.

Really, no new information. So you can let Midrand know "Thanks for Nothing"

@dotVIBE

Just post info as I get it

You sure do, and thanx for that.

My apologies if you are getting the impression that I'm frustrated with you. This is not the case, as I (and I believe most of us) have found your cooperation nothing short of exemplary.

My frustration is with MTN Headoffice and what passes for their idea of "customer satisfaction".

The messenger is due some more new shiny armour. Long live the messenger! :)

No new info. Will await the signing off of the Jasjam.

Will probe for more info and advise ASAP

@ MTNDD

thanks for all your efforts. it does seem that MTN needs to develop a policy with regards to testing, approving and pricing new phones that is transparent and provides upto date information to the client

as i write this the HTC tytyn advert is running on TV!!!!!

lets hope someone at MTN remembers to sign the form before they go on Xmas holidays!!!

as to MTNSP is ther not an info pipeline going out to the service centres to inform clients of the latest developments??? altho i have to admit teh imate htc leaf relationship does take some understanding

LoL @Neural

I've maled them again this morning let's see what feedback I get

MTNDD

I'm due for a upgrade since last week Friday. There is nothing that I like that's available at the moment. I'm waiting for the Tytn or Mteor. The funny thing about this is that Vodashop already have these two phones available.

MTN always advertise that they are the first with everything. Not this time.

I spoke to Richard Gardner at Head Office. He said that MTN will have the i-Mate Jasjam as well as the HTC TyTN. Funny that they are going to have both models. Exactly the same phone. I think the HTC one will be cheaper because i-Mate still add something for their branding.

He also said that it has been approved and that they are still waiting on the pricing. I should be available on the 11th of December.

Well, I really hope so.
