HTC TyTN / Imate JasJam

I receive normal smses, just not the voicemail sms to notify me of voicemails. VodaCom called to confirm this problem and the reason is VodaCom's Voicemail notification smses are sent in an older format and the TyTn only supports the new format. I'm not sure about the other networks.

Got my TyTn on Friday. Me happy now.

The lady at Leaf reckons that the contracts will similar to Procall 1000 or so.

Lucky people....

To the lucky people that owns a TyTN. How do you make a call if the number

1. is in your address book
2. is not in your address book

do you slide the keyboard out, or do you use the stylus?

Thanks

Asked at an MTN SP shop this morning about the availability of the TyTN and they phoned MTN or somebody. Came back with a ridiculous date of 1 st quarter next year. WTF?

If that's the case then SA providers suck @ss. By that time HTC will probally have launched at least 2 new PDA phones. Since the TYTN there's already been at least 1 new 1 that I know of.

Does anyone have an idea what the once-off gonna be on say a Procall 150? The K-Jam was free so surely the TYTN can't be more than R1500?

Hey Everyone, below is an email from Leaf concerning the email notification problem on the HTC TyTn when used on the VodaCom network. I hope VodaCom sort this out.

********************

Dear Customer,

This is a common problem with Vodacom. There are two types of notification for your voice mail messages. The phones only support the new version; and Vodacom only uses the older version. As soon as Vodacom upgrades to the new notification type they will come through to the phone; but until then there isn’t much of a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience; however this is not a permanent problem.
***************

Just received the following message from Leaf on the notification problem. HTC admits to the problem and are fixing it.

---------------------------------------
Hi,

I have spoken to HTC, they will address the issue immediately.
They are aware of the issue, as they had similar issues on other networks, so a fix should be with us in the next few days.
I will let you know as soon as we get it, and the steps that need to be taken to get the customers sorted out.
Also of course all future devices that come to VC will have the fix on too.

regards

I've been quoted R3489 on my talk 500 contract.

This is the response from leaf on MTN:

The TyTN has finally received approval from MTN and so should be
available from them next week. It sometimes takes a little time for
information to disseminate down to store level. If you are still
experiencing trouble next week please contact [email protected] as he
manages the MTN account.

I was at leaf this morning and they say handsets were delivered to Vodacom last week.
