I am using SageOne Accounting since its inception 11 years ago

Since January 2021, I am experiencing the following errors:
  1. my login times out with an error 504
  2. my dashboard does not load-again error 504
  3. cannot run any financial reports like a P&L, Trial Balance etc, although I can run a VAT report, customer and supplier reports
  4. banking refresh does not always update the latest data from FNB and can be up to a day or two behind
I reported the issue to Sage Support and to date they cannot fix the problem. I even sent a message to the MD on Linkedin and he never responded. Supports response is
Thank you for your patience.

Please be advised that our Development Team is still working on your query.
Log Number: ASBCA-8012
There is no turnaround time on this as yet.
We would like to apologize for the delay and inconvenience.

This stock standard response from Support is due to the developers not providing them with answers on this error

Are there other users out there experiencing the same?

Last year SARS charged me penalties on my late submission of my company IRP6 return. I forwarded all the emails to SARS showing them how SAGE has not sent me any reports. At the moment it takes SAGE about 4-5 days to run a report

I find Sage's lack of urgency appalling.

Hi Hoosen, I was experiencing annoying performance issues over the last few days too. I am thinking of moving to another system if this continues...

I've been using Sage One Accounting for the last 4 years as well and boy do I regret it. Their uptime and reliability is terrible. The site is often slow or buggy. Sometimes transactions only show up a few minutes after posting them. If you're not careful, and post the transaction again, you could end up with duplicates and a growing disaster to resolve.

I'm looking to switch to QuickBooks Online. But its going to be a small project to migrate everything over.

Have you tried using the MS Edge browser.

SARS suggest using it instead of Chrome for Efiling, and I have found it seems to work better for Sage Online Accounting as well.

I have not, actually. I am a die-hard Firefox user.

When the site works, it works 100%. With no browser compatibility issues that I could pick up. When they have performance and reliability issues on their back-end servers, that's when it becomes a problem, and this can often be tracked against their status page - https://status.sage.com/ - if not immediately, you will find out about it hours later or a day later. You can also track it via complaints online by other users. I doubt that switching web browsers would make any difference.

Also, Sage isn't like SARS. It's not an SoE. They're a private company selling hosted services. They better damn-well make sure it is standards compliant so that it can work any modern standards-compliant web browser. I think they have this bedded down already.

Its the back-end issues that are the major problems affect performance, stability and reliability. Also, there are a ton of missing features (like processing manual journal entries) that are a pain to work around.
