Can someone please help?:(
I have been looking for the Huawei antenna for ages now, Do anybody have an idea where i can get it around Joburg.

can the antenna push it from EDGE to 3G/HSDPA? anyone ever seen that happen?

That is very unlikely. If you connect to edge only it means you don't have coverage for HSDPA, But i assume it is possible if you live right on the edge of the HSDPA/3G coverage as your signal would be stronger.

I suppose it is possible, but from what I've read if your 3G/HSDPA signal is so weak that you cannot pick it up without the antenna, you'll probably get better speeds on EDGE.

I dont believe much that is said about the 3G roll outs.

About the antenna:
I went to the Glen Walk in center and asked about the antenna and was told that MTN dont stock them anymore and that I should try the Vodashop maybe they would have them.

I did that and explained to the guy there what was said by the MTN consultant so he asks me: "how many do you want?"... Pity the plug was too short or I would've bought one.
I have given up on this so now I simply use my Voda sim for 3G. Alot cheaper than paying for an antenna I am most certain would not have changed my coverage from gpr/edge to 3G.

Poynting (www.poynting.co.za) should have antennas available for the Huawei cards by end of October 2006. (DIPL-A0042-02 with Huawei E620 adapter ~R210+VAT). They are in Wynberg, JHB

I bought a Yagi from Poynting works very well with my E620

11db gain - very nice

Just checked my signal without the earpiece -69db and then with the earpirce plugged in -61db. 8 db gain. This is on edge.

Sean

Is this with the normal external antenna or with a Yagi?

MTNDD

No this with the headphone/earpiece that came with the card.

I get no change with 3G/HSDPA.

Sean

Well I guess if you hold the data card with your hand the db will also change, so with the earpiece the db gain goes down
