Hi
How do I set a data limit for each device that connects to the router?
And can I specify different limits for different times?

I have a 40GB anytime and 40GB midnight to 07:00 package

I have installed the Huawei hilink application but don't seem to find any settings that I can manage the data usage

Thanks

That's because that router can't do any kind of limiting

Of course, some extra hardware and some linux magic and you're sorted. Probably a grand or 2 worth of hardware for something small and manageable

There's no solution from Huawei, they just told they would look into it, IIRC.

Actually very frustrating

Wow that’s disappointing. I’m lookinh at using a router like the Mikrotik WAP LTE device to manage users individual login details and data cap but not sure about whether this will be successful.

Hi Huawei

Can please include this feature in your next update. You already have it on other router, sadly we don't all afford those.

have not heard from them

best option: get a Rain Mobile sim, take the R250pm package, unlimited data

The B315 is a fairly basic LTE router was just not designed to do any advanced management.

I've seen various bandwidth monitoring apps but nothing that would limit usage and even so, it would have to be installed on each device and monitored on each...

Best would be to spend a bit on the right hardware to do the job

OK. Sorry for not explaining properly. I do it for people as a side hustle. I first bridge your current router and I'll install a new router that runs a version of openwrt. It allows you to set data quota either per device or per user (this is good for users with multiple devices). It also allows you to set what happens once a user depletes their daily allocation, either shutdown internet or throttle them. And also, it can also set guest network so you can give your guests allocations for each of their devices. That way they don't blow through your monthly cap in a few hours.
