In my search to find a Huawei E272 I found a Huawei E226 for sale.

Anyone knows anything about this modem?

Now that it seems that an external antenna can indeed be connected to the E220's internal antenna this might be an option as the E220 and E226 looks identical

Probably a typo.

Anton,

The E226 or rather EC226 is a CDMA20001x EV-DO device. it supports 3.1MB download and 1.8MB uplink services. It looks exactly like the E220 with the only exception that it's an EV-DO device and not and HSDPA like the E220

Regards,
Matt

Just to add to the confusion, the model ID reported by the Huawei E620 is 226.

There are a few distinctive models in the Huawei range. They vary is specification and technology. Herewith a list of the said models:

E220 (USB - HSDPA)
E800 (PCI Express - HSDPA)
E630 (PCMCIA - HSDPA)
E270 (USB - HSDPA & HSUPA)
E272 (USB - HSDPA & HSUPA) ****Exclusive to Vodacom
E870 (PCMCIA - HSDPA & HSUPA)
E170 (USB Stick - HSDPA & HSUPA)
E172 (USB Stick – HSDPA & HSUPA) ****Exclusive to Vodacom
EC226 (USB – EV-DO)
EG162 (USB – EDGE)
EG602 (PCMCIA – EDGE)
E960 – External Gateway (Modem & Wireless Router)

IMO that "E226" item being sold on BoB, is most likely a scam: "golflil" is "Located in Outside South Africa", and all the items being sold by "golflil" seem to have been recently posted for sale.

@Mattb: Thanks for the list. I think the E870 is also an ExpressCard like the E800. The E169 (the G version is being supplied by the 3 network in the UK) is also absent.

Please feel free to put forward any product query for the Huawei's range of Data Cards, Routers, Gateways & Handsets. We work very closely with them and act as C.D. for the terminal products in SA.
