Sign up with GoogleAbout 6 months ago I switched from CellC to 8ta's 60+60 Promo. Initially download speeds were significantly lower than CellC but were still acceptable. Recently a new tower opened in our area and both signal strength and data throughput improved significantly.
Last week my ZTE MF668 modem failed so I went along to the local 8ta store and bought a new Huawei E3131 modem. Everything was fine until last night. Last night the modem connected to a 2G signal and for all practical purposes that is useless. At least with the ZTE modem I could force a 3G connection even if this was to a tower with a weaker signal.
Fortunately the 3G signal is back again this morning but if I had known that the E3131 modem cannot be forced to 3G only I would not have touched it with the proverbial bargepole!
