So you've at least managed to disconnect from the internet now.got this:
AT+COPS? +COPS: 0,2,"65507",0 OK AT+CUSD=1,"*101#",15 OK
^MODE:3,3
+CUSD: 5
this is a virgin 128k sim

From the +CUSD response you received, it would appear your firmware is not capable of correctly handing USSD commands.
I've hunted high and low for a place where one can download it, and the only place where I found one was Netcom, a network operator in Norway. Unfortunately, if you use their firmware upgrade you end up with a network-locked data card!Anywho can you give me a download link to the new firmware version and explain how to do the update?

I believe MTN_DD is going to raise the issue of firmware upgrades when he meets with Huawei soon.
The PC UI interface is also inaccessible when online ...That is strange, I was able to talk to an E220 on the "3G PC UI Interface", unfortunately I only had the unit on loan for a short while so I cannot try again now.
You can use the modem COM port, but only while you're offline, otherwise you'll be told the port is already in use.
I tried many times and waited for 20mins+. Since it worked for you with the same firmware I'm puzzled.Try a couple of times, and wait a few seconds for the response to come back. I found with the E220 I would sometimes get no response, sometime complete garbage and other times it would be fine.
Do you know where to find upgrades? The huawei.com didn't offer anything remotely like it, but I probably missed some secret link. This probably can be fixed with a firmware upgrade, like it was for the E620.
The PC UI interface is inaccessible when the MTN F@stlink program is open. You can be online without the MTN F@stlink program being open. The PC UI interface is also inaccessible when online ...
A wait of 5 or 10 seconds should have been enough. Do you have a good signal?I tried many times and waited for 20mins+. Since it worked for you with the same firmware I'm puzzled.
Unfortunately not, see post above.Do you know where to find upgrades? The huawei.com didn't offer anything remotely like it, but I probably missed some secret link.

You can't use the 3G PC UI Interface while any other application that uses it is open, whether its MTN F@stlink or Huawei Mobile Connect.I don't use the MTN F????link software, but the Huawei Mobile Connect software. But that should not make any difference, I think.
Yes, this is important - after Mobile Connect has been used, I get binary junk on COM5. But removing it and replugging it is enough to make it work. With Prometheus' help, we've discovered that the Huawei Mobile Connect program seems to put the card into a binary mode, thereafter it stops understanding normal AT commands. Try running HyperTerminal just after you're booted up or just after you've plugged in the card.
One other question: any idea how to supply the PIN to the E220 while in hyperterminal? I had to clear it (using Mobile Connect) otherwise the USSD commands in hyperterminal all resulted in:
+CME ERROR: SIM PIN required
Interesting! Have you got a Huawei branded E220 with the 076.11.07.106 firmware by any chance?I open TWO hyperterminal sessions, one to COM4 and one to COM5. (Port numbers discovered as in [post=855864]my earlier post[/post]. This is on the E220 USB modem, not the E620.)
Normally COM4 would be in use by your internet connection and you can use COM5 to do things like checking the signal strength or sending USSD commands, and then the response would come back on the same port. Not sure why it's ignoring your requests on COM5, does it only happen after running Mobile Connect?I can live with this. Firmware to make the response come via the same COM port would be a minor improvement. An update to Huawei Mobile Connect to support USSD commands would be great.![]()

I'm sure Ginggs can advise I have no idea
