No,

1st - I Followed it exactly as per the video, (was still getting errors)
2nd - I Followed the text Guide (still received errors)

Then I removed / uninstalled Google services (framework / play services - Google account will still on the phone)
Then I installed the Play Services (APK no. 3) and then the Google Services framework (APK no.7)
Checked Play Store (it was working)
Then followed steps 9 - 16 as per his installation guide

I just can't get that purple "G" app working, it refuses to do anything when I open it

You just have to press the blue bar and then minimize the app,
Then follow the rest of the steps

USB. But I've also tried the other way

so i can get all the way to where it asks for a google account, if i create a new account it works, but if i put in my account details, it says there was an error reaching google

So maybe do a hard reset,
Then start fresh,

I didn’t, but I did , I got half way, and the steps went a bit pear shaped, improvised somewhat, and it’s working

Eish what a mission to reset my phone. But yeah I suppose it's worth a bash

I made sure all my pics, vids, etc was backed up,
Then I copied from my PC directly to my phone.

Apps, I didn't mind redownloading.
