Huawei P6

Now that you have the phone you left out the most important part. Did you get Justin Bieber Cd. Did you get it, did you? I'm so excited about the cd. That's the main reason I want this phone. :D

Hahs...yes...i fid order it for myself...but housemate got a griend with two tweens that will love it so it wont go yo waste.

Guys...i am loving my phone.

The new fastest kid on the block would definitely be Chinese or Taiwanese. The Huawei P6 looks good but don’t stop looking there, especially if you a preferably cash buyer like me. The P6 sells at Orange online for R5,091 nearly the same price as the Nexus4. The Acers are also not bad: I got myself the Liquid E2 Duo for R2611 which does not have the Corning Gorilla Glass, have 1Gb of ram, the processors run at 1.2 Ghz and the display res. Is a bit lower but at a Antutu of 13900 are on power with the P6. If its speed you looking for look at the Xiaomi: they apparently have a few that out preforms the S4. But I don’t know when they would be available and at what price.

This is that company ; nevermind just a single phone :
{expect it to go global in the next year or two}.

China’s Xiaomi ‘new disruptive force’ in smartphone market
http://www.cnbc.com/id/101032056

After only three years Xiaomi, or "Little Rice" in English, has taken great strides. In the second quarter Xiaomi overtook Apple in China's smartphone market, with a 5 percent share, compared with Apple's 4.8% share, according to market research group Canalys.

"The fact that Xiaomi recently recruited Google's Android Vice-President, Hugo Barra, to serve as Global Vice- President is a key sign that the company intends to expand internationally at some point," he said.

At this stage this is not very sound advice.
How do their support stack up? Can you get the stock rom without any hassles if you should ever need to flash the phone again, can it be rooted easily, if something breaks, will you be able to get spare parts? Will they support future Android releases?
Not even Huawei and Sony can claim a good track record in some of these fields, how on earth would it be sound to buy a Chinese phone that you can nothing with (after market) once it is shipped?

I wasn't giving advice just discussing a interesting subject (for me) and making a prediction. The fastest android phone to my knowledge is the Xiaomi Mi 2S but there are more than one variant and even a 3S Mi. They are all faster than the Samsung S4 and why not, most of the best Phones are being made in China including Sony and Apple. I read that Samsung is in the process of building factories in China: so the technology and people are there. As far as my Acer goes I don't know but their service centre in South Africa is the same as for all other Acer products so I suppose the service would also be the same. It is not easy to get stock roms for most phones because they prefer that you do a OTA update. I did coincidently downloaded the latest stock rom with Android 4.2.2 before the phone arrived but when I got it, it was already updated. Yes you can root it but I am not interested. The stock rom is nearly identical to that of the Nexus 4 and I am happy with it.

Downloaded the the new latest official B111 firmware from the Huawei site last night. Mine is on B109. Think they say it improves performance further and gives a bit extra battery life. Was a big download though. 900meg. I could not do the update last night cause you need a SD card for it and I cant remember what I did with mine :-(

So what's the general performance been like? And how does it compare to your Motorola? And does it get as hot as some said?

Performance is good .... very snappy and smooth....but I dont play games so cant comment regarding that really. swiping between home screens is quick and smooth and apps open nice and quick. Cant say I have noticed it getting hot. That might happen when playing intensive games I guess?

Only reason I am loading the latest firmware is because I might as well :-)

I am planning on getting this phone for my wife. It's a no brainer really. This phone leaves my Note 2 in the dust when it comes to the built quality and it feels very nice and comfy in the hand. Another Chinese brand that is worth a mention is Oppo. I will be getting one as soon as I ditch my Samsung.

Seems there is already a leak out for B114 firmware. Will wait for it to be official. Have to say I dont see a big improvement in battery with the B111 update. It was 100% charged this morning @ 6 when I took it off the charger .... now sitting on 88%. Phone predicts I have 24h28m left. This is on 2G mode only. I think I might do a factory reset tonight as I know many recommend you do this after a firmware update as it could bugger up your battery readings?

Xiaomi is planning on going global soon. This is also the reason why they pulled Hugo Barra (head of product management at Google). Barra is also the first major non-Chinese employee at Xiaomi and this will be their start to expand beyond its root in a bid to become a globally recognised player.

His job is basically to take over all of global expansion for Xiaomi, which currently only builds Android phones for the Chinese market, using an innovative strategy of making high-spec smartphones at low-spec smartphone prices.

It also seems that he will be bringing his relationship from Nuance (where he worked prior Google) to Xiaomi, so we may see some really special software integrations here.

The guy, Bin Lin, who started Xiaomi were also a previous Google employee whom left Google to start Xiaomi with some key Google engineers and product managers. Seems that Bin wants to pull more key personnel from Google at the current stage. Interesting though is that Google is Xiaomi most important partner.

Hugo Barra:

“The aspiration for the founders is that Xiaomi will become a global company that happens to be in China,” he said. “If I do my job right, in a few years, the world will be talking about Xiaomi in the same way that they talk about Google and Apple today.”

Movements like this are very important to us consumers as with the Huawei P6.

Why?

We will start to see customer orientated (quality) devices at the right price, that what we as the consumer want.

I don’t know the current status in market share that the Huawei P6 is reaping at the moment, but I guess that it growing against the high-end contract phones, would love to see statistics on this.

But why? I think the stock rom is great. It has lots of themes and it is easy to use + it has got good power level customization?

Will go give it a look today sometime..Ockie how is the back of the phone doing? Heard it scratches easily.

Hauwei is was the 3rd largest smartphone manufacturer for 2012. They beat the likes of LG, Sony, Nokia and Blackberry. The P1 set the ball rolling for affordability, power, design aesthetics and durability all in one affordable high-end package. Huawei made something like $31bn for 2013. They are a brand for the future and yes Xiaomi looks even more brilliant. It's time OEM manufacturers became major players in the smartphone business.
