Huawei P8 & P8 Lite - Reviews, tips & tricks

I would if I could find a download with the same build number (C02) all the downloads seem to be C185 or C435. I don't know why they don't make these things more accessible, even if they force you to click a disclaimer before downloading.
 
So, I contacted Vodacom. They tell me the MM update for the P8 Lite for ALL Vodacom customers is live. So I try to update again. Still nothing. VC say reboot and the try the update. Still nothing. So I looked on Huawei's ZA support site and found this:

Download, copy to dload folder on the SD Card and run "Local Update". Update works fine except it defaults the language to Polish, so if you decide to do it, make sure you have another device or a Polish person to help you change the language back to english.
 
I just added a nano sim in the micro sd slot. Now sim 1 can't receive calls - unavailable. Is this normal?

You've got the cards the wrong way round. Put your lte / 3g card in slot 1 and 2g card in slot two and set them up like that.

Ignore me. I tried swapping them and it works.
 
You're right. Although changing them around is not and option tonight (as 1 is micro, not nano) I did switch 3G to sim 1 and voila.

Edit: 1 is my business sim.

I guess this update will only apply to the ALE-L21 from Vodacom only? I dont see anything referring to the ALE-L02 from Telkom Mobile, will this work for the ALE-L02 model?

Odd, both my sims are nano. P8 though not lite

I'm just going to add this to the long list of lies of lies told to me by Telkom. I just got my number finally ported over today and have been trying to upgrade to MM the whole morning but the L02 MM update doesn't work and the pdf included says it only works with ALE-L02C636B150 and ALE-L02C636B522.

I specifically checked with the Telkom before I joined that the P8 lite could be upgraded to MM and I was assured that it could be, but that I would have to do it myself or pay somebody to do it.

It can be. You just need to find the right rom

Are you referring to the Polish rom...'coz I don't know if that will work with my ALE-L02C190B130? Then even if it updates you have to figure out how to change the language back to English.

I get the same on my Moms P8 Lite and my P9 Lite.

Thank you for contacting Huawei Technical help desk

Our developer are still running test on the 6.0 (O.S) its not out as yet, as soon as its out you will get a notification on your phone to upgrade or you can keep an eye on our website :http://consumer.huawei.com/za/

Thanks. I don't see what the problem is though, or any reason for the delay. It's been updated everywhere else and on Vodacom in SA.

You can download the correct MM ROM for SA from the same website listed here - for the single SIM P8 Lite. It says dual SIM but the model number listed is the single SIM. I have loaded it successfully on a single sim device

This is true for the ALE-L21 model not the ALE-L02.
 
Waiting to get Marshmallow on the P8s and Nougat 7.0 has just launched.
 
Hi Guys
I have a friend got a second hand p8 lite (vodacom) but the second sim is deactivated.
I called Huawei they advised that certain models are only Dual sim but form the list they sent this one is dual sim (ALE-L21)

I found the update files on XDA but when i run the install file it fails (any one experience this issue)
I even tried the official update from Huawei (generic not Cell c or vodacom) failed as well.
Any ideas?
