Awesome. What package you getting? You getting a standard install?

Yes, standard install, but because I still have my previous equipment, I will be paying even less. :)

For now, I am just getting the 2mbps capped package. I really only need it for online gaming. I will upgrade again to the 3mbps later this year, depending if I move again. :D

Yeah, will do. :) I am only collecting the old equipment on monday, so installation should be around wednesday or something.

@ OP: Which uncapped package do you have? I'm also considering this, but for gaming, DotA (I&II), maybe LOL/HON and probably Diablo III. I'd go capped, but the data allowance is just to little and top-ups too expensive...

I have the 1 mbps uncapped package. My advice would be to speak to someone at Amobia to decide on whether an uncapped package is the right choice for you if you're a more serious gamer.

Awesome, was hoping you would say 1mbps, which is what I had in mind. Nah I'm more of a casual gamer.

Thanks for the reply.

Okay well phoned and got a date of next week Tuesday. They will also let me know if a spot opens up sooner. Basically 7 days from payment.

Guess I am lucky then, cause my installation is for monday/tuesday, but that might also be because I have the equipment already. :D

Also that you might have more technicians in the greater Gauteng area :) A gentleman said that its maintenance crews which work on Weekends, and unless it was a corporate/business account they don't install on weekends.

So hopefully will be up and running by the middle of next week.

:) will do. I must admit that I did expect the install time to be shorter than 7 days. But still better than Telkoms 3month install time

I recently joined Amobia as well, it was the only option as we'd just built a new home and Telkom promised us "infrastructure" in early 2015!!. In the meantime I was using 8ta 3G which has more connection spikes than a porcupine at speed dating, so playing World of Warcraft was touch and go. I applied online and got a call one or two days later to organize a site test. My site test was successful and I had a clear line of site to the high site on Northcliff hill. I opted for the more expensive grid antennae and all I can say is wow. I'm on the 2mbps uncapped packaged at R649 a month and I average 220 -260ms on wow with no hicups. I'm 2.4 kms from the high site and my signal's about 54db (or -54db however it's measured). The service is great. There was only a service interruption this weekend because of high site hardware upgrades but I am very happy.

Question: was yours active straight after they installed the CPE or did you have to wait till you paid the first invoice?

I was up and running right after installation, Amobia charged me pro-rata for the rest of the month.
