Huge thank you to Afrikane for a very generous donation made to Antitrust this morning. The man certainly puts his money where his mouth is!

Right, so our funds have been substantially topped up thanks to the unassuming and very modest Afrikane, now I wish to run a few idea past the MyADSL community.

1) Stickers. Do you feel bumper stickers are a waste of money or not? Do you think Antitrust should spend some money on having a couple hundred stickers made with a good anti-Telkom slogan? If so, do you have any suggestions for a slogan appropriate for a bumper-style sticker? Jarr, dominic, LoneGunman, stoke - you guys are witty, give us some succinct slogans!

2) Streetpole adverts. Do you support Antitrust taking out streetpole adverts to advertise our cause? If so, what should such streetpole adverts say?

3) Canvass banners. We already have one big-ass canvas banner (3m x 1m). Do you think another should be made?

4) Any other suggestions?

Buy Newspaper Ads an write stories in them. Make it look like part of the paper.

Bumper stickers get shrugged off. Newspapers have a certain appeal about them.

Where to we signup?

Maybe be a small sticker you can put on the back of your cell phone

"its cheaper to use your cell than telkom" or some such.

Bumper stickers could work if masses would use it.

If every car you see has a "Hellkom" sticker on it, the "brand" would stick.

I doubt Telkom would love 1 million cars with "Hellkom" stickers on them. It would take years to get rid of all the stickers!

I urge everybody to support this hard-working team.

They are very effective with limited resources.

Go Debbie, go

I have seen at the busy woodmead area intersection a group of about 5 or six people with placards and they looked like they were toy toying. It turns outt here was a marketing information on the placards but they sure got my attention.

Perhaps that model could be followed. More intersections could be identified such as the one in woodmead and perhpaps Glenhove and Jan Smuts, Main and Witkoppen, Sandton Drive and William Nicol etc etc.

I am thinking 6 groups of 5 ppl with those placards with the relevant info about ADSL pricing along with A5 pamphlets with short points explaining the ADSL situation for those willling to roll down the window to learn what the commotion is all about?

A few guys in the media to 'take notice' would not hurt.

I think for maximum exposure though; what we need is co-ordinated protests in places like SOWETO and ALEXANDRA. We need to show that the complaints are not just whingeing by a priviledged white elite. Once you get the masses onboard then you are a winner. We need demonstrations, someone to ask why there isn't ADSL in SOWETO and ALEX and KATHORUS and DAVEYTON etc.

ok maybe i am over ambitious here but it needs to be done.

<evil grin>
Telkom=Hellkom
or
Telkom=Hell
or just plain Telkom is Disgusting
Plain and Simple.

Btw see you at the march!
</evil grin>

Edit:March/protest whatever you wanna call it

I'd like bumper stickers for "FU" attitude, but I think simple, informative newspaper ads will be the most effective!

qdot,

This is the way to go........

I suggest a team or an individual sponsors an intersection....
Let's agree on the posters, banners and leaflets and......
I will sponsor and organise an intersection - every morning and every evening.

Rivonia Rd at Highway my preference.

C'mon - rpm, mad and antitrust put something like this together.

I bet motorists will give the people some bucks and who knows,
if we get this right 1000s nationwide could put some bucks in their pockets within a few months.

myadsl membership could reach 1M by 2007.

Actually in hindsight I think stickers targeted for telkom offices would work.

"Don't sign a contract - they are screwing you over"
"Don't sign a contract - you are giving up a constitutional right"
"This business is keeping South Africa poor, do you really wan't to support them?"

Get those stickers that are bastard hard to peel off too.. =D

...STICKERS...
The stickers are a must do, but only if we can come up with a design that peeps will actually want.

I say : do some designs, then take orders for them. If some are actually ordered, make them.

Slogans on Round Sticker ...
- Telkom SA Limited to Profit Only.
- No internet for the masses - Telkom
- A new Corsa-Lite or ADSL - You decide !

How AntiTrust and Hellkom also get onto sticker is unknown ...

Damn good comparison. "ADSL and this car cost the same per month. I chose the car"

Bumper stickers stuck on every single Taxi you can find

PHANSI with Telkom’s pricing PHANSI!!
unproudly South African and all that jazz.
