Huge Vodacom data price cuts

Vodacom and the Competition Commission have announced that they have reached an agreement regarding the Data Service Market Inquiry which will result in the mobile operator dropping prices by over 30% across the board.

Speaking at a media briefing in Pretoria, Competition Commission deputy commissioner Tembinkosi Bonakele said that the agreement is subject to confirmation by the Competition Tribunal and certain conditions are confidential to protect competition in the market.

I don't get it.

I have been paying R99/month for 1GB on prepaid for a long time.

Contract customers pay that same amount for an extra 1GB (once-off) data bundle above their included allowance.

Thank goodness sanity has prevailed and we didn't get Communist intervention in our free market from the Competition Comrades.

BIL is visiting Australia at the moment :

Mobile Data : AUD20 (just over R200) for 48GB, valid for 28 days.

It's also cheap in most other countries.

SA has a long, long way to go.

"two free SMSs daily " and RandomGeek orgasms. Happiness indeed is 2 free SMS' per day

Paying R108 for 5GB per month but paid R149 for 1GB per month before they changed it for me...

That is usually a once-off to hook you, after which you pay more, once it expired.

Half of the family lives there, so am always on the lookout for nice deals. ;)

Which carrier is that by the way?
