Huge Vodacom data price cuts

Is this going to be one of those 30% reductions in the blended rate charged nonsense that Shameel likes trotting out?
As Lupus mentioned, 30% off an already grossly inflated price is really no deal at all. And the effective rate is "effectively" VC saying f*** you to the consumer again.

SO only 900% too expensive instead of 1400%?

Jesus you can get 1GB from the app right now at R99 so basically they are making it R99 via the USSD menu and suddenly that is a HUGE data price drop. Come on what is 1GB? Data for ants or what. Mybroadbands own tests show how fast 1GB gets depleted. With 4G phones on entry level prices data prices has not come down proportional to the technology and price of the devices.

Very sad that this even made headlines. Very well played by Vodacom to come out as the consumer champion. Thanks but no thanks!

Huge is a step in the right direction but they need massive, not that this is particularly huge.

The problem with Vodacom is there is ALWAYS a catch.

i am also paying R99 a gig so what kak is this?
“Effective from 1 April 2020, prices will come down by over 30% across all channels. For example, the key 1GB monthly bundle will drop from R149 to no more than R99 per GB.”

/spit
/tsek Vodacom, as soon as my contract is done in May i am done with you

Going to?

Mongolia: Around R320 for 60gig valid for 30 days (no roll over). If you use it all before expiry you are throttled to 128k.

4G (Best I could get was around 35meg down).

Regarding the "but I've been buying for R99 a gb via the app" issue.

Heard some guy on the radio and he said the 1st step was to level the playing field for all users. Apparently the bulk of consumers do not have access to smartphones/Internet banking etc or the technical knowhow that gives them access to lower prices.

Yeah amazing how easily they can fool the authorities. Just like their rollover lite which sidesteps the issue of expiring data. Still nothing to bring the smaller bundles in line as well which was one of the main issues highlighted so the poor are still being ripped off.

This is why there will never be progress no matter what. Vodascam and EmptyN always come out the winner.

I personally think we need epic reductions. Damn im starting to sound like a headline writer

I don't get why everyone is complaining about the data prices. I use like 3gb of data a month on my phone max useally a lot less. And you can't compair our data prices to over sea prices. In south Africa they need to add in the price of towers being destroyed and generators and diesel and battery theft. Vodacom is still a business and needs to make money or it will end up like any other thing the government run.

Why can't we compare to overseas?

Saying that 3gb is enough for you, so it should be enough for everyone is like saying no one needs a car that can travel more than 40km on a tank of petrol because your daily commute is only 10km
