hundred pushups program

So I started week 3 today, did the exhaustion test and was surprised how easily I could lift myself by now. Got to just over 25, so I'm starting week 3 on the third column which might be a mistake but I'm keen to try it. Day 1 wasn't impossible so it's a good start.

I'm also doing the 200 situps challenge on my off days, situps are much easier though.

well week 1 AKA day3 finished - today was a lot easier than day 2.
on the final round of 10 or more, managed 18, which is ok cause my initial test was 8.
could of done more but had lower back pain so stopped.
sad thing is at the moment I'm probably pushing up more weight (not saying how much yet, its tooo much) than anyone else trying this, but trying to combine this with a healthy lifestyle and walking so will see if there are any results (re the weight) towards week 4.

edit// @mods, this should be stickied by now

Great stuff man! :) Because you weigh more, you are at an initial disadvantage.. But you will gain strength very quickly since you are pushing more weight, and when the weight starts to drop off and the muscles keep growing, you will suddenly find yourself being quite strong :)

I started at 11 - initial exhaustion test.

Then i've done.

Week 1 = 104 pushups.
Week 2 = 161pushups.
Test = 20 pushups.
Week 3 = 152 pushups.
Week 4 = 215 pushups.
Test = 28 pushups.
Week 4 = 222 pushups.
Test = 31 pushups.
Week 5 = 262 pushups.
Week 5 = 309 pushups.
Test = 39 Pushups
Week 5 = 363 pushups.
Week 5 = 431 pushups.

I took a week break.

Test = 46 pushups.
TOTAL pushups to date = 2391.
Doing week 5 for the 5th time this week.

Awesome! :D You have definitely shown the most improvement out of all of us! Its very impressive that you are doing more than 4 times as many pushups as when you started!

Keep it up!

I have restarted week 3, but dropped down to column 2... I think I was a bit ambitious to start column 3, so I'm hoping that now I will make some progress...

I suppose it's because i've been doing it for 9 weeks :P

So much for "100 pushups in 6 weeks" - I suppose i'm getting old :)

Which column are you doing?

Column 3, I'm not having trouble completing the required number of pushups. I just do Day 1, Day 2 and then when Day 3 comes around I don't do it.

It's bad, it really isn't that time consuming. I'll start again today, I think Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday will work better for me than Monday, Wednesday, Friday as I have been trying :)

Did you do your first day today? Remember to take a rest day in between days! This is a marathon, not a sprint :-)

That's exactly the problem I was having! There's no shame dropping a column if it will get you to the next week, but then stick to the column for the duration and don't drop AGAIN to column 1 :p

Thanks for this post - I'm really enjoying it (not sure about the pushups :)).

I also started this program on Tuesday last week after I found this topic posted a while ago. So yesterday I completed day 1 of week 2...ouch (seeing that 11 pushups for set 2!). I'm really not very fit at all - my initial test resulted in 8 pushups but at least I got into rank 2! I can't believe I did 49 pushups in total yesterday (with 13 completed for set 5).

You will be getting fitter before you know it, keep it up and keep us posted! :)

Thanks for giving motivation Ono, will mass update table when at a pc

So it appears having taken a break was the best thing to do.

I completed on monday Day 1 of week 5 column 2 and today day 2 week 5 column 2 - managed a total of 165 pushups tonight in total :D

Not only is this the first time i've successfully completed day 2 of week 5 column 2 - I managed 45 pushups in the last set - where I had to only do 40

Awesome! Good luck with day 3!

Damn!!! Nice going! How do your arms feel? I imagine it's an awesome feeling having pulled off 45 pushups!

honestly - better than they did 2 weeks ago :P

Its scary to think in week 1 I had to do a total of 34 pushups on day 2 (with 8 being the biggest of the sets) -

My arms are really starting to show more and more definition.

I should have started this program a year ago

Cancelled my gym (haven't been there this year anyways) and did the test over the weekend. Managed 32 pushups so had to start in week 3 ::eek:: I was sore for 3 days thereafter.

Downloaded the iphone app and did the first day of week 3 today. Did 14,18,14,14 and then fell apart and could only manage 10 :( Finishing it off with a protein shake now. Think tomorrow is going to be interesting.

Not committing to this fully yet, but definately going to use it as a guideline.

Updated what I could see, the table thing doesn't seem to work Czc, just shows you the table code :(
