Hydroponic Gardening DIY

Just some feed back / questions on my little NFT setup,

Lettuce, basil, celery growing well what seems to be struggling is parsley almost hasn't grown at all?

I'm using the nutrifeed is it possible nutifeed isn't ideal for parsley?
 
So glad I found this thread, I've been considering a hydroponic veggie patch v.s. a regular ground planting one and decided I wanna give the hydroponics a try, now to decide between Autopots, one of those 9 pot Dutch Bucket kits, or DIY.

Zenbaas, SirFooK'nG what size buckets do you use for your tomatoes? I was under the impression that tomatoes needed as much space as possible, 20l at minimum, but your buckets seem much smaller.
 
My buckets are 5l. They handled quite well... only issue is the buckets sit too close together, so the vegetation was way overcrowded... Another point to remember is that the 5l buckets kinda "move around" alot due to them not weighing much. So if the wind blows and your plant is topheavy, it falls over very easily. I had to string the shyte out of my tomatoes to keep everything in place.

Mine are 10L buckets. One or two of my plants are slowly dying but it's because I didn't pick up the high ppm soon enough for high dealt them a death blow I think. Larger reservoir would have helped as well.

in october i planted 5 heirloom tomato seeds (2 x marmande 2 x big yellow and 1 x cherry tomato) in 10 litre pots. once they were ready to go outside i transferred 1 x marmande and 1 x big yellow into 8.5 litre autopots and left the others in their original containers.

so far the autopot tomatoes are the biggest. i weighed the fruit for comparison:

autopot marmande #1 - 1.86g, #2 - 1.91g
container marmande #1 1.32g, #2 1.16g
autopot big yellow #1 - 2.12g, #2 - 2.01
the container big yellow isn't ripe yet.

flavourwise there isn't much difference. to be honest all of them taste good but aren't very firm.

you won't believe how much water they need, particularly the autopot plants.

Thats bloody insane, but expected in flowering time, still, that is alot of water...for hydro!
 
Durbs must be hot.
Evaporation in the reservoir and massive uptake from the plants.
Not that bad really.

I had close on 60l from 2 plants in a week.

My tomatoes fruited for weeks, I easily picked between 30 and 60 a week! Gave so many away, was ridiculous! I swear one tomato plant is enough!

Yip, its been hot lately!
