Hyundai introduced its new flagship premium three-row Palisade SUV at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show. The 2020 Palisade rides on an all-new SUV chassis with exceptional second- and third-row roominess coupled with generous cargo area and reconfiguration flexibility. The Hyundai Palisade will be produced in Ulsan, Korea and will be available at dealerships across the U.S. in the summer of 2019.
"The new 2020 Hyundai Palisade clearly evokes design imagery worthy of Hyundai's flagship SUV, with new levels of all-road, all-weather capability, technology, safety, roominess and efficiency, all packaged in cutting-edge design," said Mike O'Brien, vice president of Product, Corporate and Digital Planning, Hyundai Motor America. Hyundai Palisade's styling conveys dignity with style in an understated theme that demonstrates clear differentiation worthy of a flagship SUV. From the front, a dominant, bold and wide cascading grille clearly represents a premium SUV. Separated composite headlamps and a vertically-connected forward lighting signature create a strong and distinctive front demeanor, with available LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED turn-signal mirrors. A powerful, extended hood profile creates an impressive road presence, while bold C-pillars and a panoramic glass side graphic convey generous third-row spaciousness. Full volume over-fenders and body sides offer muscular detailing. The rear view emphasizes a wide and stable stance via sinuous detailing and a vertical LED rear taillamp design. Panoramic rear glass coupled with a cutaway roof provides a generous sense of spaciousness to rear passengers. Available oversized 20-inch alloy wheels further fill out the Palisade flagship presence.

Hyundai Palisade: meet the brand’s all-new flagship SUV
The new Hyundai Palisade has been revealed at the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, with the fresh-faced eight-seater assuming the role of flagship SUV in the Korean brand’s line-up.
Riding on a new platform, the automaker claims the Palisade – which will be built in Ulsan in Korea – boasts “exceptional second- and third-row roominess” as well as a “generous cargo area”.
Slotting in above the Santa Fe, the newcomer measures 4 981 mm long, 1 976 mm wide and 1 750 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2 900 mm.
In the US, power will come from an Atkinson-cycle 3,8-litre V6 petrol engine, delivered to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission (two-wheel- and four-wheel-drive configurations will be offered).
Interestingly, the Palisade features what Hyundai describes as an “industry-first” new roof vent diffuser design that can provide a partially diffused or fully diffused stream of air to rear passengers. This, says the brand, delivers quieter rear air-conditioning airflow, draft-free operation and more uniform distribution of air.
Inside, the US-spec model will feature a 10,25-inch touchscreen coupled with a 12,3-inch fully digital TFT instrument cluster. The interior features seven USB outlets, including front-seatback-based ports for the second-row occupants. As many as 16 cupholders are offered.

Should I buy one?
Time was when Kia offered a dependable, value-priced alternative to mainstream Japanese and US domestic brands. It’s come a long way in a short time, though, as anyone who’s driven the excellent Stinger will testify. The Telluride’s sharp styling, premium interior and good road manners are priced accordingly – bang in line with the Pilot, Highlander and Explorer, in fact.
It’s a very different vehicle from the Stinger, but the Telluride is another success for Kia. Attractive inside and out, spacious and refined, it has the measure of its rivals, for now. Aside from the Hyundai Palisade, Ford’s new Explorer will also arrive shortly, followed swiftly by the 2020 Toyota Highlander – both riding on new platforms. The competition among family SUVs is set to get even tougher.

Hyundai mulling production of right-hand-drive Palisade – report
A fresh report out of Australia suggests Hyundai is considering producing its hefty Palisade in right-hand drive.
According to CarsGuide, talks around possible right-hand-drive production of the large SUV – which is currently built exclusively in left-hand drive – are ongoing.
"We’re in discussion with head office to see if right-hand drive will be possible for this generation," a Hyundai spokesperson told the Australian publication.
Hyundai Australia’s chief executive, JW Lee, previously confirmed to CarsGuide he was keen to launch a larger SUV Down Under.
“I have always wanted to include a bigger SUV in Australia. This bigger-size SUV market has quite strong demand, I think, in Australia. And not only in here, but also in some other markets, too," Lee said.

Meh. Imma wait for the KIA Electric Gate Motor.
When will car manufacturers just quit with the stupid names and stick to alpha-numeric designations? Hyundai were doing so well with the i10, i20, ix35 etc, I was hopeful they had seen the light.
Unfortunately that is not in the same class as the palisade being electric and all.
The comparable model would be the Kia Vibracrete. Which will apparently redefine boundaries.
