It’s difficult because of pronunciation has a lot to do with how you form your mouth.
And French is a very round language. If you understand what i'm saying.


Does any of you speak any other language that the basics in SA?
And how did you find the learning process?
I would love to speak a east Block language too but they have their own alphabet.

I think children should have the opportunity to take other languages in school. Other than the native ones.

My school offered french (we were forced) to do it from grade 7 all the way up until the end of grade 9, and then in grade 10 you could have chosen to carry it through, my sister did and she actually did very well and somehow landed up 'winning' a trip to reunion. I must admin i did not like it at the time(99% because the teacher didn't like me, nor did i like her), but now i wish that i actually did concentrate a bit more back then. I think its good to have some foreign language under the belt. A friend of mine who is from Britain came to our school and did french(normal subject) and german(in place of afrikaans), but he seems to be pretty good with languages.

I was in a stupid school
And languages was my stronger point, so i would have done well.

That's one of the few French full sentences I know

But I am really keen to learn Italian because I am planning on travelling there next year... who knows how well it'll go

Haha u guessing what it means? well apparently it means "I want to go to the beach"... but people tend to teach me dirty words instead so you ever know

Had a Polish friend who for like 2 weeks straight taught me the dirtiest words when I thought I was learning polite, basic conversation... hahahaha I was too trusting

Just for the record, the French hate the English speaking tourists. You get much more cooperation from them if you speak Afrikaans, because they presume you are either Dutch or Flamish.
