Works on my TV so I guess it would.Hey guys, quick question on the Chromecast. I have the old, original Chromacast. Can I plug it into HDMI on a Computer monitor and plug speakers into the 3.5mm jack on the monitor for audio out. Will this work? Thanks

I used to stream content to my tv using a chromecast.
We recently moved to a new house where there is a projector. Cables for hdmi and surround sound are running through the wall and ceiling. However, I do not currently have any sound or home theatre system.
I am thinking to get a relatively inexpensive home theatre system with hdmi input and hdmi+surround sound output. Would it work if I plug the chromecast into the hdmi in and the hdmi out to the projector with audio to the speakers?
Is there a better alternative to connect the chromecast to the projecter?
