I bought a Chromecast

Indeed strange Well, have been using it extensively for, I think, a year. It's not connecting to the router anymore, even other people's routers.
It has a 1 Year warranty. Return it you're covered assuming you're still in that period.

Hey guys, quick question on the Chromecast. I have the old, original Chromacast. Can I plug it into HDMI on a Computer monitor and plug speakers into the 3.5mm jack on the monitor for audio out. Will this work? Thanks

Works on my TV so I guess it would.

This 2nd gen Chromecast is meh, got it for $29 and I don't see any difference compared to the 1st gen. Am giving it away to someone who needs it more than i do

Neva! I would donate my chromecast 1 ;)
Yeah I would have given away my 1st gen if I had it on me but unfortunately it's back at home in SA & I'm away so can only get rid of what I have in hand right now, the 2nd gen

How different is the new chromecast compared to the old one that I own

The first sucks.

It's k@k

Looks I love the plex, youtube combo but it's terribly sluggish and fails under continues use.

Have anyone here tested the 2nd Gen, who has also owned a first gen?

I'm not interested in the opinion of first time users

/thread necro apologies

First time using a brand new 2nd gen and it worked for about 7 minutes ish before kicking the bucket. Light doesn't even come on, no matter the power source. Google-fu shows this as a widespread problem, anyone else have any issues that you got a work around for? Can't return as it was a prize like.

I used to stream content to my tv using a chromecast.
We recently moved to a new house where there is a projector. Cables for hdmi and surround sound are running through the wall and ceiling. However, I do not currently have any sound or home theatre system.
I am thinking to get a relatively inexpensive home theatre system with hdmi input and hdmi+surround sound output. Would it work if I plug the chromecast into the hdmi in and the hdmi out to the projector with audtio to the speakers?
Is there a better alternative to connect the chromecast to the projecter?

I am considering buying a used Sony STR-K1600 receiver for my setup as explained. Does anyone know whether it will work?
