i got my iMac!!

Afaik apple updates are cached locally (thanks to the Akamai servers) - or something like that anyways..

Go and grab yourself a local account and download em ;) Will be much cheaper!

Yep this is what I do, but I download the updates manually to backup it up for whenever I do a clean install.

Enable tabs in Safari options ;) The finder bar thing changes to Safari once Safari is open :) Then go to preferences, and the Tabs tab.

Just go..

View>show tab bar

and open each window in a tab, much more productive.

Do they come with the same 10GB of local too? I knew someone was gonna scorn me for mentioning the word Telkom :rolleyes:

Yeah, you can choose as many gigs as you want local or international and it's really cheap for local, it is Saix too so you can download from the newz(when available) ;)

To top up you can use credit card or EFT.

Yes BUT...

Telkom = 1GB AND 10GB local @ R79

Axxess = 1GB int ONLY @ R70
= 1GB local @ R10 per GB

So Telkom seems like the better deal here to me

So buy from Telkom imo.. You buy online @ https://online.telkomsa.net and you get your details displayed on-screen immediately

I have ADSL. Where is axess, let me quess www.axxess.co.za ?
Yes that's them, I created an account a year ago and was online with a prepaid account within a few hours, no complaints with them so far very happy.

Yeah but the local is only available after your cap runs out, with a prepaid account you can use local whenever you need it.
Besides the telkom is per month whereas the prepaid can last you a few months. ;)

The Telkom option seems far more economical to me

Why pay R10 per local GB ( = R100 for 10GB local) with Axxess when you can get 10GB local + 1GB International for R80 with Telkom?

She can download something she wants internationally for the first 1GB, then use the 10GB to download updates and that locally.. Just think it makes more sense.

Any suggestions on getting my emails over? Dont feel like buying another program to use once only.

Yeah I see your point, that's why I got both ;)

The axxess is prepaid and I use it when i need it, I pay for it once off using EFT but I'll let avdp give her opinion just putting more options into the mix.

What mail program are you using on windows? if it's office just use the export/backup function then import the backup file using Mail on OSX, I'm sure google will have a good tutorial on this.

Yip, using Outlook! Will have a look. Which email is better in your opinions? Mac or Office. I had to buy Office for Mac for work, so I can use either. I guess it will make sense to use the mac version, as I use the calender function a lot, also with my iPhone.

personally I swear by Mail... but i see theuselessness recommended entourage? he really knows what he's talking about... so i'd take anything he says as the gospel!

For me though, i usually recommend entourage if the client is connecting to an exchange server, and Mail for Mac home/hobby users...

thats my 2 cents. :)

Yea I recommend you start out with Mac Mail and iCal, you can always move over to Office Mail/entourage in future if you need to.
