I got the Omnia!

htc touch pro / touch diamond vs omnia

hi.. due for an upgrade on my vodacom contract and was advise that maybe i should wait for the omnia.
i had been leaning towards the touch diamond / touch pro - but worried that there have been some problems with the htc phones in the past.

Any advice anyone?

thanks

I think the difference is the K/B, that to me makes the PRO the obvious choice. I am still waiting for those idiots at Vodascum to have it. MTN has it and I really think I am just going to port all my numbers.

Hi

Just wanted to find out how long the Garmin software is licenced for on the omnia? And apparently the screen is only 65K colours? Is that very noticable? I've read some reviews where people say it's impossible to see the phone's screen in direct sunlight? The 5MP camera-are the photos of good quality?

Otherwise rhis phone looks like it destroys the iphone in every other aspect.

Can't wait to get one.

In the 2 page spread on the Omnia in the latest MTN brochure, it says
Built-in Garmin GPS Navigation for Life *.

*Fully licenced for the life of the handset. Garmin solution only available in S.A. and neighbouring countries.

GPS is a full license.
The resolution and colours are hundreds as I have been watching movies on the phone... however it is difficult to read in direct sunlight... but that goes for most colour phones.

The camera is very good... I liked playing with the smile feature.. where it auto takes a picture when it detect the person smile :D

I have no regrets with the phone so far..

how is the screen quality eg, omnia @ 65 000 colours as opposed to 240 million colours on the nokia N73, N95 etc? can you see a visible difference??

They say very bad in sunlight

yes i'm aware of that, apparently one of the few iphone plusses is that it performs better than most screens in sunlight.. but i'm worried about the fact that the screen can only display 65000 colours, thats about the same as my old nokia 6610..

my N73 can display 240 million colours and that is a BIG difference when i compare the two..

this is why i havent opted for the omnia.. i worry about the picture quality, especialy since the omnia has such a big screen resolution, one would think that the screen would offer better / more colours..

STUDENT: can you post some screencaps off of your Omnia? it would be really halpful... some snaps of menu items and also of images as displayed on your Omnia..

thanks dude!

Watching movies/video clips is fine...

Dont know how to make print-screens from the omnia... hehe

But I have been watching the new Heroes from the OMNIA and its crystal clear and a sharp image. :)

If you are in direct sunlight a lot.. then there will be a problem as thats the only time I battle to see the screen.
